Sleeper: Northwestern DT John Gill

The draft is all about measurables but college productivity must count for something -- especially when a player has the measurables.
John Gill is such a player. He played defensive tackle for Northwestern and played it well, twice earning honorable mention All-Big Ten acclaim. He goes 6-3, 302 pounds and gave the NFL a 4.91 40-yard dash at Northwestern's pro day, which makes him one of the faster tackles in this draft. Gill started 42 career games in the Big Ten -- yet was not invited to the NFL scouting combine or any post-season all-star games. He amassed 160 career tackles and 10 sacks. Last season Gill blocked a field goal, forced a pair of fumbles and recorded four sacks and 8 1/2 tackles for loss.
Two former Northwestern tackles now start on NFL defensive lines, Luis Castillo with San Diego and Barry Cofield with the New York Giants. So there's some school history at the position. Gill is worth a look, and several NFL teams have been doubling back this month to take that look in the face of a thin defensive tackle board.
