Here are the snap counts from yesterday’s game in Washington.
Some things of note:
  • What a game from new CB Josh Butler. He had 61 snaps, 12 tackles, 3 passes defended and a sack. He may be a real find for us.
  • TEs Luke Schoonmaker (40 snaps) and Brevyn Spann-Ford (33 snaps) both had impactful games. Schoon even bagged TD.
  • LB DeMarvion Overshown played all 70 defensive snaps and again played very well including a sack and a TFL.
  • Zeke Elliott had 13 snaps and had 3 carries for 6 yds, keeping his 2 yards per carry avg. Seriously, why is this guy still here?
  • Micah Parsons was impactful in his 61 snaps. He had 2 sacks, 3 QB hits and 2 TFLs.
What else stood out?

I agree about Butler. I also keep noticing that Luepke is a guy who never takes plays off And reminds me of Bill Bates, who was not insanely talented but made up for it with hustle and determination.

We should have won by two touchdowns but oh the miscues at the worst times really made the game close.

I think Cooper “2112” Rush is nothing more than a capable backup and it’s fools gold to pretend he could actually be a credible starter anywhere. Washington looked almost as bad as us yesterday and any talk about them taking over the east is premature but at least they have their QB and a GM who can be fired lol.

One last point about the game yesterday is it is another season of NFL football with very few great teams if any, a lot of terrible teams like us, and a lot of decent teams. The matchups every week are terrible and there might be 2-3 games a week worth watching.

Zeke is a complete joke. Only a GM out to stick it to their fan base signs and plays Zeke. I’m glad he allegedly was in the best shape of his life in training camp, but he is absolute garbage this season, last season, and the year before. Maybe Jerry will bring Witten back as a player lol.

Thanks Bob!

I heard on some podcast where when Mazi was on the field, they were giving up only 4 ypc, but when he wasn't, it was like 20 or something. I'd say it was on the pass D when the QB made runs, so just more a matter of a running QB on pass plays.

. I like Hoffman and bass. I think we can easily move on from Martin after the season
Just posted in another thread.......we need to make sure Martin's replacement isn't already on the team before investing any more resources draft/free agent. I definitely think Hoffman/Bass should get a full season as a starter to prove that they are legit.

Keep in mind that he was mostly matched up against Noah Brown. Since the Commanders don't flip sides with their receivers, McLaurin was mostly matched up against Bland. One of the few times they put him on the other side, Butler was among the players he toasted on the 86-yard TD catch. Butler had the over coverage on that play and played it poorly. He was the last line of defense and needed to break down to make the play.

Crazy how different that snap roster is than same time last year. Almost a different team.

Good catch. I think it’s a typo. Since only one guard so Hoffman played guard. I like Hoffman and bass. I think we can easily move on from Martin after the season
I'm gonna go with Hoffman is probably designated as a center.

Linval Joseph only 4 snaps on defense. Carlos Watkins only 6. Odighizuwa 64 and Golston 56.

This screams DT in the draft. People complain about Mazi but Joseph has been really awful. Watkins is just giving others a rest. Golston and Odighizuwa have to be tired late in the game playing that many snaps on defense.

Mingo had 15 snaps on offense. He had 1 catch for 8 yards on 2 targets. For this we gave away a 4th round pick?

He played guard this week and has many times. He can play both. I think he will be the swing G/C next year. Beebe is gonna be the center. If we move on from Martin then bass is likely to replace him

I’d play both the rest of the year. Get them lots of reps. Commander hsve a solid dline and they looked solid against them. But players get better playing. I’d be playing everyone I thought was gonna be here next year and get them reps, experience and evaluate what you have. We don’t need a guard to me but a true LT would be nice since you can move on from Steele, plsy Guyton at RT and have the entire oline on rookie deals for one year at least. But this win probably eliminated our chances of drafting a starter quality LT
