Here are the snap counts for the Texans home game against the Cowboys…
Some things that stood out:
  • With Jake Ferguson gone early with a concussion, Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford had 44 and 41 snaps; Schoonmaker had 6 receptions; Spann-Ford 4.
  • New receiver Jonathan Mingo had 24 snaps, 4 targets and zero receptions.
  • In 17 snaps, backup G TJ Bass allowed two sacks.
  • DeMarvion Overshown played all 64 defensive snaps and had 4 tackles, which for him is not a great game.
What else?

Spann Ford is actually not a bad player. He has a future in this league. Schoon man is actually not awful either. Tolbert just isn’t any good. I remember a series where you had Spann Ford, Duece, and Flournoy all out there so seeing new guys was refreshing. Flournoy also looks like he can play.

Tolbert, Flournoy and Mingo having more snaps than Turpin is criminal. He's clearly the fastest player out there. GET HIM THE BALL!
Yeah...after that catch and run for a TD, it was as if our coaches said, "that was a good play...let's not do that again tonite..save it for the playoffs!" LOL

Overshown did not have his best game, but I still would love to have 11 guys like him on the field. His 4 tackles, and 1 assist, were all effort plays.

How does Lawson, our only other pass rush threat besides Parsons get only 15 snaps?

Linval Joseph getting only 12 snaps while Mazi got 43 is an imbalance. But Joseph was awful last night. Still NTs playing 67% of snaps seems high for Mazi.
