Teams have raised caution about the medicals on Tyree Wilson. Evidently, he recently had a second procedure on his foot, and while it’s not a major concern, it is a setback. Wilson also struggled with back issues down the stretch of the 2022 season, which is something else teams have delved into.

As I tweeted yesterday, the Philadelphia Eagles are laying the groundwork for a potential trade-up if they can get one of the defensive linemen. I received word last night they could also trade up for Paris Johnson Jr., which makes sense even though it doesn’t solve an immediate need. The greater point is the Eagles are open to moving up.

The Tennessee Titans are still actively looking to move into the top 10 for one of the quarterbacks, which has been known for some time. Head coach Mike Vrabel believes he can develop a good defense with just about anything but needs an explosive offense and the quarterback to run it.

Kansas City will look to move up from the back end of Round 1 for one of the receivers. Most say it’s Zay Flowers, but I know they also like Quentin Johnston. Someone close to the organization told me Chiefs general manager Brett Veach doesn’t care about the picks at this point but rather prioritizes players.

Surprisingly, I continue to hear from a variety of sources that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are enamored with Johnston. The team restructured the contracts of soon-to-be 30-year-old Mike Evans and his counterpart Chris Godwin not long ago. Johnston to Tampa at 19 may not be as big of a surprise as many believe.

I’m told that there is a faction of people in the building who want a receiver, either Flowers or Jordan Addison. Historically, the team likes players out of Boston College. Yet, there is also a faction who believe the Giants need a pure No. 1 wideout, and while Flowers and Addison are good receivers, they would just be adding to the list of bodies the team has at the position and it would be a lot of redundancy. In other words, they do not view either player as true No. 1 receivers for their team.

New York likes cornerback DJ Turner out of Michigan and center John Michael Schmitz. But would they select either with the 25th pick?

If Darius Rush is available to them in Round 2, and they haven’t taken a corner in the first round, I believe that is the direction they will go. A highly-rated defensive tackle or pass rusher could also be in the cards for the team at pick 25. Safety Brian Branch is a name that’s also being thrown around.

The Buffalo Bills may not get the player they covet with the 27th pick. I have them selecting Branch in my mock draft, which fills the team’s long-term need at safety.

I’m told they could also take Josh Downs, the field-stretching receiver from North Carolina, at No. 27. The other player Buffalo’s done a bunch of work on in the days leading up to the draft is Iowa State pass rusher Will McDonald IV.

I’m told the team has been burning the phone lines to Ames, Iowa, speaking with as many Cyclone coaches who’ll talk, to gather as much information on McDonald as possible. McDonald is well-liked by a lot of people in and around the program, but there are questions if he’ll be able to handle a complex NFL defense.

Conventional wisdom says the Bengals will draft a tight end or cornerback. I have them selecting tight end Dalton Kincaid in my mock draft and Cincinnati is another team considering cornerback DJ Turner in the first round. The sleeper pick for Cincinnati is offensive tackle Matthew Bergeron of Syracuse.

Think both Turner/Bergeron could be surprise 1st rd selections. Been touting Bergeron all offseason long, good player, but probably be better inside at Guard. Forget about Turner, he is the opposite what Quinn likes at the position.

KC trade partner if we want to move down could be an intriguing nugget.
I think our pick might be too pick as they would have to get in front of the Giants, maybe even higher. Certainly would move back for their comp 3rd then consider some wipeout candidates.

They are one that I’ve looked to if we wanted to drop down a few spots. Nice to read that they made also be interested in moving up.

Bergeron scares me. I watched him during a stretch last year where he faced a bunch of NFL caliber edge players and his performance was all over the map. He faced Murphy and Foskey in back to back weeks and while he had some decent play, he also got schooled at times by both. But as you said, maybe his future in the NFL is at OG.

They always target trench players in rd 1. Wish we did on the defense as much as we do with high Offensive lineman.
I’m happy with both/either. But I hear ya, defensive line has been neglected for a long time, especially after busting on Taco and Hill.

I’m very confident a 1st rounder at a premium position will drop to 26 I just don’t know if they will turn the card in as it sounds like they’re locked in on TE.

If they are, I hope they do trade back and get an extra 3rd before drafting someone like Mayer, Musgrave, Laporta etc…I’m fine with Kincaid at 26.

My ideal would be a trade down and still getting Avila. (A surprise I know!)

You could've just listened to the cornerback guru instead of waiting for Pauline.

But anyway....now I have to hope turner is a bust

He is a good run blocker right now, but you are right needs work as a pass protector, where many teams envision him kicking inside at guard. He was a good target at 58 if we missed the top two prospects.

That's why I'd love for them to go after Kancey if he's there. But I do worry about the bust possibilities, so I'm not going to be upset if they don't believe he's the best option. Hard to predict how a short, smaller DT with shorter arms but great speed, movement skills and technique will do.
