When Bledsoe was the quarterback, and this team lost to the Giants, the majority of the Cowboy Nation came to a conclusion the season was lost. Even with the second half by Romo.

Then the Carolina game gave hope to those who decided this season was another in a too long line of "maybe next year" seasons.

But what is reality here.

Undisciplined play and far too many penalties caused this team to lose.

Dropped passes and missed assignments - Gurode, make a block please so Glenn can run the end around - caused us to lose one we should have won.

Any given Sunday has meaning.

But we have a young defense that will get better.

We seem to have found a kid who can play quarterback that will break the long line of losers we have fielded since Aikman. The jury is still out on this. Because we need to see consistency.

But he has poise and assets we haven't witnessed in a very long time.

This team needs a FS that will take charge of the defensive backs. And controll Roy Williams from making boneheaded mistakes like the PI penalty against Lloyd, when he clearly had an interception if he watches the ball.

A cohesive offensive line that can play together.

We have cap space. We have youth, save for the WR's.

But they also are still young enough to make a difference when we solve our issues.

I don't want to bring up next year. But being a fan who has seen the majority of this team's games since day one, I must say that this season has a potential of being similar in creating a foundation like the 1991 season was.

I hate losing to the Commanders.

The face mask penalty was not a 15-yarder in my opinion.

But something special could be brewing. We may not see it this year. But we are spending games to get Romo the experience he will need of the right pieces are placed this next off-season.

All is not lost.

We may have rounded a corner in the last two weeks.

thank you. i could not have said it better.

Yes but I think we have enough talent to do well this year.
Thay is why it is disappointing.

Right Now the Dallas Cowboys are a stupid football team.

Nice Post TD3

But with the knee jerk reactions and mentality on sports boards, sadly I am sure it will not help much.

Again...Nice post.

Very good post.... I agree with penalties being a big problem.... but at the end of the day... the game was there for the taking atleast 2 times... .TO and Vandy..

Wonderful post.

And not because grasping at straws beats drowning in self-pity, either.

But because despite the infuriating, confounded, dumbarse penalties, and isolated screw up assignments, these past two weeks have been clear indications of what this team now is talent wise and how close it is execution wise.

No excuses here AT ALL for Bill and his staff..but I don't think 'next year' is all we've got...this was a freaking idiotic loss, but not a heartbreaking or crushing one....I believe Dallas is going to pull this season out of the mire of .500, and with a flourish and convincing wins the second half of the season.

I could buy the silver lining routine a bit more if it were Romo's mistakes of youth that cost us today's game. But they were not.

So while TO and Roy, two more than seasoned vets, and being paid like it to boot, cost us today's game Romo might aptly reply "who's waiting on who to develop?"

And yet how much better would this team play if they had an offensive line that could block?

Now consider this. The line knows they must be picture perfect or they will allow issues with the quarterback.

If you fix the offensive line and get rid of the people who are iffy, does that not aolves issues like false starts because they aren't worried about getting an extra jump on the blitz or a stud D-lineman?

The field goal was shown on local TV with Vandy being interviewed.

It was clear the defense got serious penetration and it was not vandy's kick.

Fix the line and some of the undisciplined errors by Fasano, Wittern and the linemen will be cured.

And a game like this, which happens to every team - see the Bears today - might have a different ending.

Great post........Few listens to common sense approachs..... the majority gotta post comments fight the fight to be crowned Drama Queens...

looks like the Cowboys might have found a Franchise QB,,,,thats a good thing,,,something long overdue.....agian great post

We all want a better line and I think it is fair to say that it SHOULD be the #1 priority in the offseason.

However as crazy as it has been, as bad as it has been.

There is ONE bright spot about it.

Because it has been so bad we have seen Tony taking over and still doing a respectable job.

If we would have had great o-line play this year, we may have won a few more games but Bledsoe would also still be starting and we may still be wondering going into the offseason if Tony is good enough or if we have to draft.

As it stands now we should have a good idea if Tony is going to be good enough or if we will have to draft another QB. With Bledsoe still starting we would be pushing that off another year.

Eight more to go. The bad thing is 13-3 is no longer possible, but, for an optimist, 12-4 is. Hope for that.

I have a hunch you're on to something there. :)

Line of the day , imo.! :)

Excellent post Sir.

This is becoming the rollercoaster ride of the century......and you're correct, just like the "91" season.

Maybe one day soon the lightbulds will go off in their brains and we will be off and running.

On a positive thought...Maybe we have finally answered the QB question.

I agree TD3, but we seem to have the foundation for greatness, but the same mistakes are being made for much too long. The same stupid penalties, bad offensive line and no matter who you put in our secondary, they will be no better than average and get you beat.

We need some coaching changes to go along with the player aquisitons that we have in place. we need to satrt with Zimmer. If you recall for years we wondered why our DB's never turned and made a play on the ball, and had more PI calls than any other secondary. The problem is still there. We have not been able to create a decent rush or cause sacks or turnovers.

If BP stays, I hope he gets new coaches on the OL and a new DC. For years we have been dealing with the same screwups...........time for a change.

2D3, well said.

After they are assembled, good teams have to learn how to win. Today was just a part of the process ....
