Someone cut my cable/internet and hooked it up to their apt

Last night my cable and internet stopped working suddenly and customer service said the modem wasn't receiving a signal, so they sent someone over this morning to look at it

Turns out, someone went to the cable box in the apartment's cable/power room and unhooked my cable and hooked it up to their apartment

Guess what, that's a federal offense, and the cable guy took pictures. As a bonus, the stupid fools didn't remove the apartment number designation from the hookup, so now I know which apartment did it

1) the apartment complex's cable/power room is locked by a [sarcasm]heavy duty/sturdy-as-hell[/sarcasm] zip-tie so anyone and their dog can get in there
2) since I know which apartment did it, I'm having to fight back the urge to kick their freakin door down and knock them the hell out

WWYD? (what would you do)

I would run over and give them a beat down.

Who cares if it would cost you money and jail time and you would not be able to afford internet cable after they sued you. ;)

Of course you have the cable guy look at it. He documents it, you call the police so they know the situation.

Have the cable guy hook it back up to your setup.

If the police do anything...great. If they don't then someone in the other apartment will probably try to do it again in which case you go through the process again.

If this goes on for some time...go out there yourself. take the cable out of their slot, put it back in yours...then do something to their slot so it can not be plugged in again...or superglue the cable into your slot. :D

everything you said has already been done, the only thing left to do is beat them down! (lol)

the cable guy hooked it back up to my apartment, he took pictures of the "offense" to document it, and he cut their connection to where they can never do it again if they try

but yeah, I'm obviously kidding about any physicality... I really want to go over there though and just say, "I know what you did", and walk away

Tempting to give them a verbal beatdown, but the kinds of people who would do this are probably stupid and don't have much to lose. I'd let the cable company handle it.

Report it to the police and watch them pay a fine and get evicted.

Exactly. Don't take matters into your own hands. Call the police and let them handle it.

they should have at the very least splitted your cable if they wanted to steal it, lol.

After I slowly get over my hatred for Comcast after finding out someone was stealing the cable/internet I was paying up the nose for...

I would find their car and steal/siphon their gas. lol. Not sure if that's possible nowadays, but would be awesome. Or, I would turn off their power breaks outside. Every couple of days, just go out there and turn it off. If they catch on, pretend you don't know anything about electrics and thought you were resetting your own!

Leave one of those 'Cut out of the newspaper lettered' notes on their door, saying 'I know what you did!' IF they are scamming cable, who knows what else they are up to. They do, of course...

Obviously these people aren't too bright.

Like the cable can't be traced to their apartment.

walk right up to them and hand them your bill(critical info blacked out of course) with a note that says "you want my cable you pay the 'expletive' bill" and walk away

I know a guy who lived in an apartment complex and got free cable the entire time he was there and never got caught. He was visiting his neighbor and saw where the cable came in. His apartment had an adjoining wall. He measured the distance from the wall and the floor.

Back in his apartment he cut a hole in the wall and disconnected the cable from the box. He put in a splitter and hooked the neighbor right back up, and ran the other split into his apartment.

I considered turning him in, but I knew he would know it was me and that guy is about half nuts. I don't trust him. I will not be shocked if one day he kills someone.

For starters........Let the air out of his tires. Then super glue the valve stems. That alone can provide many hours of free entertainment for yourself. Who needs cable?

Happened to me once at my apt in Houston. My internet and tv just quit working and had to wait all weekend for someone to come out on monday. I didn't report it because this was the type of place you could get shot for doing so. I hate low lifes :(
