Alright so I had gotten really lazy and hadn't worked out for a couple of months. I played basketball a few times, but no working out since early April. Anyways I just started yesterday and now I'm incredibly soar. It's been so long that I forgot how to deal with soreness. How do you make it go away?

Get plenty of sleep every night and eat healthy, be sure to get alot of protein.

All the advice given so far is good, but if it's been a while since you worked out, which you said it was, you are going to be sore. Nothing you can do about it really. If you stick with it, it'll go away after a few weeks, or at least won't be nearly as bad.

whey protein, complex carbs like sweet potatoes and brown rice, glutamine powder, bananas and you're good to go :D

Stretch before, stretch after, drink lots of water and wait. If it's really bad take some ibuprofen.

Potassium helps, Hydration most people do not drink enough water that effects your muscle soreness as well

The best solution I have found is to not work out. When I was in the military I woke up everyday with a sore muscle some where. After I got out POOF no sore muscles. :laugh2:

just toughen up and appreciate the pain. it's reminding you that you need to get off your ***. it also lets you know you did something right. a day or two after a good workout you know it was good by how sore you are. if you aren't sore, you didn't workout hard enough. ;)

It may sound weird, but take a sharpie and cover the affected area completely with ink. You may have to go over each area twice. I'm not sure why it works, but I've done it, and it's really effective. Black works best, I've found, but red is ok if that's all you've got lying around.

It is probably too late now, but you can take 2 to 3 Tums before or just after a workout or pickup basketball game and it can reduce the amount of lactic acid that is built up.

Why would that sound weird?

It's a real life-saver. I think it's the diacetone alcohol that makes it so effective. I'd try that, and the Tums, just to be safe, though.

Just drink alcohol after and you will feel even better. :D

Pain is weakness leaving the body, suffering is what weak people endure.
