Sound bars

Taking about the ones that go with your TV and I have a real challenge, getting the sound just right to hear dialogue without cranking it to the point the efx and music knock me off the couch.

I have a Samsung sound bar w/sub and it has all of these settings like Cinema (big sound) Drama, Sports, News, Music and I have tried them all and none of it do it for me. Now, I am a mature gentleman with tinnitus so my hearing ain't great but there must be a solution for this.

Anyone else have this issue and how did you address it?

i hate these new tvs from back-engineered technolgy recovered from the roswell crash.

i miss my old rca tv.
the speakers were located in THE FRONT OF THE DAMN THING SO YOU COULD HEAR IT.

these new flat computer screens have the speakers located IN THE BACK.
well....glad the pictures on the wall can hear it.
i was really worried about that.

I have the same problem so got a Sony CT-380 with Accue voice. It has several settings that increase the voice output and works great. It's a couple years old so I'm sure there's a newer model available.

Surround sound might be a good alternative...or headphones.

I would say a nice pair of wired headphones, the type that surround your ears.

If you don't want the wire, there are nice wireless ones too, and you can walk around and still listen

they cancel background noise as well

some tv's will allow you to split the sound between the tv speakers and the headphones incase there are other people. Or I believe there are audio spliters to where you can plug in your soundbar and you headphones

just got a Samsung smart tv and sound bar. Cant' for the life of me figure out how to synch the sound bar to coincide with the characters lips on the screen. some shows work, but other look like those old Godzilla movies

Might fiddle with your sound settings a bit. Also try turning the volume off/down on your TV speakers and see if that helps.

I've have that problem and just reboot everything and that usually fixes it.

I will not be getting another Samsung sound bar as it changes itself from Dig 1 to Dig 2 whenever it feels like it.

When I first got it, I set it on the Cinema setting and started watching a movie on BluRay, and I was a lot closer to the sound bar at that time, and it freaked me the hell out because the sound was coming from both sides of me. it was fascinating how they could do that.

I don't use the Cinema setting because I can't hear the dialogue and crank it up for that and then the music or sound efx kick in. I'm turning one of my dogs into a nervous wreck because she's afraid of thunder.

I've had well meaning friends say "you know you can use captions " to which I reply "if Ima watchin', I ain't areadin". Can't stand subtitles.

I'd invest in some real hardware. A used Denon AVR and name brand speakers can be found on craigslist all day long. Even a 3.1 system will blow a sound bar out of the water.

I have 2 of the Bose solo 5 sound bars. Got rid of 2 big expensive Sony surround sound systems because I got tired of the thundering theater sound. These work great and take up very little space.

Sonos is the best bet.
I have a Bose and it is more than fine but I wish I had bought the Sonos instead for the better audio and the whole home connectivity.


Sonos Arc tests out much better than Bose. But I will say Sonos keeps changing out their sound bars.
Makes it tough to commit 2G to the surround sound set.

I'm pondering taking the leap and just moving the Bose upstairs.
