Every time we draft someone this gets brought by the front office. It dosent to be translating to the field. Are they too worried about the wrong thing is when drafting?

Seems like this stuff is just for the guys that like this kind of stuff that. The guys that study these players as they test etc, if you ask me there's too much technology and numbers/stats for these players. You either have it or you don't!!

Well you're referring to RAS - which every team in the league uses to score players. The Cowboys don't care about it any more than other teams.

Not saying there aren’t exceptions that make it, but bottom line is that if you’re not big/strong/fast enough it’s going to be 1 heck of an uphill battle to succeed in the NFL.

For instance: Deuce Vaughn had amazing college stats, but a RAS score below 5. What’s more important?

Of course position plays a big part of it, there’s certain spots where it doesn’t matter nearly as much.

Thye only mention SPARQ or RAS when it makes their pick look better.

If their questionable pick does not have a high SPARQ score, they won't mention it.

So the big thing is that athleticism matters. You look at the studs of the league, most of them aren't marginal NFL athletes. There have been studies done, gauging the success of every player in the league against their Combine measurables, and there's a positive correlation.

In the last decade under McClay, the Cowboys have gambled really aggressively on athleticism, and have hit on more draft picks than the average team. Fans will rue the Kelvin Joseph pick, but seem to take the pick of 3x All-Pro Micah Parsons for granted. The FO has the skins on the wall to back up their strategy.

But the team that drafts the most like I'd draft, and a team I wish the Cowboys would learn from, is the Detroit Lions. They are hardcore BPA, seemingly ignore positional value, and exclusively draft high-production certified ballers in the early rounds. Some of their draftees are athletic monsters, some aren't. But they are usually low-risk. And what the Lions don't do is get cute about needs or scheme fit - they just add obviously good prospects.

I like Dallas' bias towards elite athletes, but getting cute is how we draft a KJ or Schoonmaker. When we stay patient and draft BPA, it usually goes well. When we reach, it usually goes badly.
