Whether they see him wreaking havoc as a 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker, Quinn's performance brought a wide smile to many faces among the eight head coaches, several defensive coordinators and countless scouts—all looking for the next great edge pass rusher to add to their franchise's arsenal. With his perfectly sculpted upper body and powerful, explosive moves, Quinn (6-4, 265) lived up to the comparisons he draws to another electric talent from the ACC: Shawne Merriman.

With the original "Lights Out" continuing to struggle because of knee injuries, it's the perfect time for a sequel. Although Quinn said he is appreciative of the comparisons to a young Merriman, his goal isn't to be better than anyone in the past—except himself.

"I improved on my numbers at the Combine, and everybody has said I had a good Combine," Quinn said. Some of his standout results from Thursday include his jumps—a 33-inch vertical and a 10 1/2-inch broad. He maintained his 4.6-second range in the 40-yard dash and added an impressive 4.22 in the 20-yard shuttle. The wow factor, however, kicked into high gear when he went through position drills as a defensive end.

I like quinn, but the brain cancer issue he had, scares me off :star:

Not cancer (as far as I know, I don't have access to his actual medical history) but a tumor or tumors. Not all tumors are malignant. His appear to be benign and he played for two years after in D-1 ball so any effects on his noggin should be sussed out by now.

I can understand your reservations. And all signs point to the fact the Cowboys have zero intentions on drafting him, no matter how short-sighted I find this.

If they get a good player I won't care.

No more NC DEs.

lol.. seriousley though ellis had a really good career as a cowboy. People just think he stunk because of how great moss's career was.

Moss would not have won us any rings. By the time he came the team was too far gone. And the havoc he would have wrecked would have been even more memorable.

I think Quinn put himself in play for a top 6 pick, maybe top 5. I'd be surprised if he slipped by the Browns at 6. The 49ers and Titans would have big interest, too. The Cardinals at 9 will most likely look at him closely, too.

I wonder if the Broncos at 2 will seriously consider him.

A 34 team will most likely want to play him on the weak side.

I think his best fit right now is going to be in a 43, however, I think the 34 teams will like him, too. He can always grow into that role.

Ellis was average at best. Lets not get carried away here.

Yeah ok. If he had posted the same numbers for a team like New England or Pittsburgh, you'd be talking about what a great player he was.

Quinn will go in the top ten. He could be a very good player though I think he's in a 3-4 over a 4-3. If we didn't have Ware/Spencer, he would be on our radar.

It wasn't brain cancer; it was a non-cancerous tumor which is completely different. If it were true brain cancer, he wouldn't see the field again and would be in a much bigger fight than simply trying to play football.

I'd take the guy in a heartbeat.

Plus I found out he was a highschool wrestler and that is a huuuuge plus for me.

Well if Ellis was average at best, what does that make Spencer.

I would look at Quinn if he is there, he is one of the elite talents in this draft IMO and we can't afford not to look at him. He might not be an absolute need, but he could be the BPA when we pick.

Yep. And not just a wrestler, but IIRC a two-time state champ.

Actually Quinn was a 3 time state champion wrestler.
