St. Augustine, Florida Trip

Anyone from St. Augustine or live close by?

We're going to be taking a weekend trip there next month and was wondering about places to go other than Castillo de San Marcos. Also if anyone has any good local places to eat I'd be appreciative.

The old city in the walls is great if a little touristy. Its really only a few blocks so you can manage all of it in a day. Cross over the main square (outside of the old Spanish part) for a few more restaurants/bars/shops. Also, the oldest surviving house is over that way too.

Beach is right over the inter-coastal for a great day along with Gator world The fountain of youth is a tourist gimic of course but also near by along with a great water front park.

I live in Orlando. My last vacation was to St.Augustine and it's only 2 hours away. It's pretty relaxing and fun over there. Really love that place.

I can't remember the names unfortunately, but there is a really fantastic Italian restaurant in the old city. Awesome food there, really good pizza with all kinds of somewhat unique toppings.

Really tasty Gelato shop there too. Nice place to stop by while walking around in the hot sun.

My personal favorite place to go in old city is one of the shops, again I can't remember the name, but they sell all kinds of swords/weapons/armor. Just satisfies the nerd in me. They had an actual realistic Hyrulian Shield from Zelda, made of real steel. Totally bad ***.

I live about an hour from St. Augustine. The shop with the swords is probably on St. George Street. My family rents a condo for a week on the beach each year. Don't know if you like doing lighthouses the one in St. Augustine you can walk the stairs all the way to the top and they have a walkway at the top you can walk around it and come back down.

go to the Alligator Farm just south of the city on A1A I believe. It is cool. You can get your pic taken with a live alligator if you want.

Thanks for the suggestion. I grew up fishing the swamps and bayous of SE Texas so I've seen my share of gators up close and personal.

That light house needs to burn. I went up there once, and while I was at the top My favorite cowboys hat blew off my head into the woods.. I will never go back up there =(
