Captain Kirk and his landing party beam down to a planet whose inhabitants love to water ski. It's a huge part of their culture. Kirk and crew are on a diplomatic mission to obtain more dilithium crystals, so they agree to participate in the water skiing. However, they keep getting more and more demanding until they're asking Kirk to perform very dangerous stunts that he's not used to doing. They have a ramp set up in the lake and in front of it there's a netted area containing a shark. They demand that Kirk ski over the ramp and fly over the shark, landing safely or they can't have the dilithium crystals. Spock makes a bunch of calculations on his tricorder and gives them to Kirk while he's skiing. There could be a big suspenseful buildup as Kirk approaches the ramp.

It's such a shame they never did this episode. It would have been memorable for sure.

How did you get your hands on that script? Gene Roddenberry had slotted that episode for season four before NBC cancelled the series.

The episode would have the Enterprise crew return to Beta Omicron Delta III for shore leave. The planet' could literally make any person's dream come true but usually at a price, which the crew learned the first time they were there.

The show's cast read the advance script. DeForest Kelley was not happy. Kelley did not have the opportunity for saying, "****** Jim! I'm a physician! Not a bionics surgeon!"
