I cannot WAIT to see this new series, as well as additional seasons of Discovery and Picard. Paramount is going great things with this franchise.

I feel ambivalent about this. To say I've been disappointed with recent Star Trek would be a massive understatement. I HATED the reboot movies and ST Discovery. However, I did think ST Picard was really well done and interesting. It was a relief to finally have a new Trek show that I thought was powerful thematically and quality science fiction. I would be thrilled if Strange New Worlds turned out to be quality like ST Picard. If it's more shoot-em-up Flash Gordon-style Trek, I'll once again be disappointed.

I'll assume Strange New Worlds is going to be good -- unless they prove me wrong. I'm also happy that Seth McFarlane's The Orville will be back soon. They've finished filming the third season and now it's in production. I know it's not officially Star Trek, but he did a pretty good job ripping Trek off without breaking copyright and trademark laws. IMO The Orville is very Trek-like.

I thought The Orville was cancelled outright? I like the show. It's unapologetically a parody of Star Trek, and while I'm a huge Trekker, The Orville addresses some of the more realistic reactions and issues species would have while working together...plus Adrianne Palicki is so hot, and I hated when they wrote her out of Agents of Shield.

To me Picard is too stuck on itself. But it certainly is the best that has come out since DS9 ended. But there has been a LOT OF DRECK TREK since then.

The Orville left Fox and is going to Hulu. It's still alive and kicking. They've finished filming season 3, which is in production now.

DS9 is the one star trek series I just could never get through. Tried multiple times and found myself too bored with it and the characters.

Picard was a hard watch IMO. It was so slow getting started. It did get better towards the end but even Patrick could not make up for most of it IMO.

DS9 started off slowly in season 1. It really doesn't start to get good until towards the end of season 1. Then it builds up and becomes amazing. IMO some of the best Trek episodes of all time were DS9 ones, especially season 6's In the Pale Moonlight. If you watch only one DS9 episode, watch that one.

I agree. While I’d say I liked Picard rather than disliking it, I prefer Discovery any day of the week. That show is awesome and I hope Strange New Worlds can be as good. The characters introduced on Discovery were great.

DS9 was my favorite of the reboots. Sisko was much more interesting and likable than Piccard. Odo, Quark, Kiera, Dax, Jake and company were fun to watch. When Warf joined the team, it really added more to the cast. The only character I didn't care for was OBrian. Loved the Vic Fontaine hologram.

I found the TNG characters stiff and boring, with the exception of Warf, Data and Jordy. Wesley Crusher annoyed me. His mom tried to be like Bones but her character felt forced.

I gave a like because it is always nice to see another Deep Space Nine fan. I am not as hard on Gates McFadden. Her Dr. Crusher character was never meant to fit into another Kirk/Spock/Bones dynamic, so she was really had a secondary tier role. McFadden had her moments. I thought she did well as the lead character in Suspicions episode, for example.

Totally agree about Wesley Crusher. Wil Wheaton irked me like Renee O'Connor's character Gabrielle on Xena. It's funny. I grew to like Wheaton more years later playing himself on The Big Bang Theory.
