Ramiro Romo, the father of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, has qualified for the Wisconsin State Golf Association State Amateur Championship July 19-22 at The Bull at Pinehurst Farms in Sheboygan.
Romo was one of three Racine County golfers to earn qualifying spots in the State Amateur at the District 3 Qualifier Wednesday at Rivermoor Golf Club in Waterford.
Richard Pfeil of Lake Geneva (Evergreen Golf Club) and Andy Hansen of Mequon (Dretzka Park Golf Club) had the top qualifying spots, shooting 3-over-par 73s.
John Bechard of Wind Lake (Muskego Lakes Country Club) was a shot back at 74 to earn one of the eight qualifying spots from the District 3 Qualifier. Romo (Browns Lake Golf Course) was next at 75 and Paul Zarek of Burlington (The Links at Grand Geneva) shot a 7-over 77 to tie two other golfers for the final qualifying spots.
