It bothers me to no end that the Cowboys can't get the Martellus Bennett jump ball play working in the red zone. The guy is almost 6'7'', all he has to do is drive his man a couple steps into the endzone, turn, and jump. All Romo has to do is throw it about 8-9 feet high and let Bennett go up and get it. I don't see why they are having so much trouble executing this play. In theory its virtually unstoppable. I hope they spend more time practicing this play for the rest of the season. Why they are doing fade routes with him is beyond me. It looks to me like Martellus is freelancing down there, but I can't be sure about that. I would like to see them get this working.

It starts with Romo making a good throw in which he's never thrown a good fade. the closest thing to a good fade that Romo threw was the one to Roy on Monday and he dropped it. It could've been better but Roy still has to catch that ball.

Who cares about the fade. Run the football. Thread over.

Martellus is definitely not turning right to catch the ball. He always seems to turn back inside instead of outside towards the outside shoulder, and then he does this weird looking contortion to try to get his body back into position.

This thread is over when I say it's over and I say it's over

How we got out of training camp and preseason without getting this perfected is beyond me. I can't think of any excuse that makes any reasonable sense.

In any case, we get on the 1 1/2 yard line just punch it in. Please!

Absolutely. A few other coaches probably nail that down before game 1.

Its not that simple. Football is a game of match-ups and situations .

Agreed. Running it doesnt always work. Especially when they are looking run and stacking the line on all downs.

If only the Cowboys can perfect every aspect of the game like the rest of the league that is undefeated and perfect.. oh wait. Well every SB champ out, oh wait, well if only the Cowboys could be perfect at the draft like every team, run a perfect training camp like every team and run a perfect season like every team, you know if the Cowboys could not be the Cowboys that would be perfect.

Its a wonder this team has any fans and people fill their web pages.

Now the thread isnt over, but it should be. :D

From what I heard on Talking Cowboys, that was the first time Bennett had ever run that route that way since they've been practicing the fade, so he was freelancing a bit.
