To be expected. It would be incredibly stupid to let Lawrence walk. You don’t get rid of guys who post 17 sacks.

You’re right. I don’t know why I thought 17.

But the point remains. He is the best pass rusher they’ve had in years. The franchise tag for one more season to prove consistency is a no brainer.

Why do Jerry and Stephen have to talk about this? If I am the agent and I hear this I am going to try and squeeze some more money out of the deal. I’d rather them just be nonchalant about it.

Most teams don't say much publicly, then just slap the tag or whatever.

Not Dallas.

We are all into making leverage pointless by making public commentary.

It is like we use contract negotiations as a way to be in the headlines.

What leverage do they have to lose? The franchise tag is binding - if they want him here, they can keep him here no matter what.
