The company that began advertising for an incredibly lifelike Steve Jobs doll won't sell the figurines after all because of pressure from family and Apple lawyers.
In Icons had planned to offer the 1-foot-tall, lifelike figure dressed in Jobs' trademark black mock turtleneck, rimless glasses and jeans.
But the San Jose Mercury News reports the company posted a statement on its website Sunday saying it had received "immense pressure" to drop the plan and made the decision out of its "heartfelt sensitivity to the feelings of the Jobs family."

I am certain theogt and kapiofinu are heart broken over this news, but we will pull together and try to soldier on.

:p:

Action figure?

It should come with a small desk, small macbook and the doll permanently mounted to the chair. That's the "action" the personal pc market has created...

Yeah, I'm getting tired of this worship over Steve Jobs. He was no better than any other man or woman.

They should have just named it Stephen Hobs so they (Apple) couldn't do anything about it. Naming it Steve Jobs doomed it from the start. This isn't the first time they (or someone) has tried this. Just the first time since he died.

I imagine that is shopped? I haven't seen any leaked mock upss of the figure, but that could be one.

Steve is watching Apple from somewhere in reincarnation land.

The funny thing is Steve Jobs stole all of his product ideas. The only thing he did was refine them. People cried over his death as if he created something that revolutionized the world. No, he just refined existing products and marketed them way better than anyone else.

The PC, the notebook computer, the iPod, the iPhone, OSX, etc. All of them are stolen from other peoples ideas. PCs, notebooks, mp3 players, smartphones, and Unix existed way before any of Apples products did. Hell Unix existed before Apple (the company) was ever even founded! (Apple was founded in April 1976. Unix first release was November 1971. Unix development started in 1969)

Now, Dennis Richie died around the same time. Did anyone cry over that? Richie is the man who invented Unix. OSX is based on Unix and therefore would not exist without Dennis Richie.

The only people who cried over Richie are those that have a clue where the real innovation actual came from. Jobs was just a self-absorbed ******* who preferred minimalist UI (again, not the first to do this) and knew how to market. (that either)

I came from the link and it does look like a doll, so I figured it was legit. The likeness is great.

I think we had a thread on Dennis Richie... I know I knew who he was...

Product ideas through the ages are rarely the successful entitiy's idea. They take off on someone else's idea and do it better. It's been happening throughout time and will continue to. It's the art of competition and I don't want it to change...

So what you are saying is Steve Jobs is to computers as Jay Z is to music?
