Steve Jobs Stopped at Japan Airport Over Ninja Stars

Apple Inc. Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs said he’ll never come back to Japan after officials at an airport barred him from taking Ninja throwing stars aboard his private plane, SPA! magazine reported in its latest issue.

A security scan at Kansai International Airport, near Osaka, detected the weapons inside the executive’s carry-on luggage in July as he was returning home to the U.S. from a family vacation in Kyoto, the Japanese magazine reported, citing unidentified officials at the airport and the transportation ministry.

Jobs said it wouldn’t make sense for a person to try to hijack his own plane, according to the report. He then told officials he would never visit Japan again, the magazine reported. Apple declined to comment.

I simply loathe Steve Jobs nowadays. The guy truly doesn't get it anymore. It's not just this, it's his whole approach w/ wanting to re-write ADOBE out of everything or any competition for that matter.

Then he goes off and ties up more of the justice system w/ that stupid suit againt Google.

Seriously?

I want my liver back, Steve

I don't know, within the same article, you get this contradiction:

Apple, based in Cupertino, California, disputed the magazine’s account.

“Steve did visit Japan this summer for a vacation in Kyoto, but the incidents described at the airport are pure fiction,” said Steve Dowling, a spokesman for the company. “Steve had a great time and hopes to visit Japan again soon.”

Takeshi Uno, a spokesman at Kansai airport, said a passenger using a private jet was stopped at the end of July for carrying “shuriken,” the Japanese word for Ninja throwing stars and other handheld blades. The passenger, whom Uno declined to identify because of the airport’s privacy policy, threw away the blades, he said. The airport doesn’t have separate boarding arrangements for private-jet users, Uno said.

As for Jobs and Adobe, yeah he's being stupid about that and I wish he'd stop. The last thing I want to do is switch over to a Windows box to do my job. Apple makes some great software, but if he thinks they're going to come up with a package comparable to Photoshop and Illustrator he's nuts.

They must have updated the article as earlier it said Apple declined to comment.

Though I do find it odd that the exact country, city, airport, time, private plane, etc all coincide with Jobs visit. :muttley:

Jobs has one very remarkable skill: He manages to make Bill Gates look good!

While some of his decisions have been good business, they have sure kept me from getting anything Apple.

Oh I don't doubt it was him, I just don't think he made a stink over it.
