Two strategies for beating the Giants

Offensive Strategy-
Attack, attack, attack- weather permitting, this is a game in which the Cowboys must attack by throwing the ball down the field early. I’d like to see them start off the game with deep balls. Even if we go three and out, this will set the tone. the giants hang their hat on their run defense (ranked 7) they have not faced a team with a good passing attack since the first dallas game ( I’m calling the Commander game an anomaly). By going deep early this should open up the middle of the field for Whiten, Keyshaw and Crayton and give our backs some room to run. Obviously the concern with this is that it exposes our tackles and if the Giants sack us, we play into their defensive strength. Our young tackles need to step up and be ready from the first snap.

Defensive Strategy-
Ballhawk, ballhawk, ballhawk,- This strategy will consist of playing more coverages-mixing zone and man and changing up in the fourth quarter. Ballhawk is a more patient form of defense, not as aggressive but i think we can get pressure with our front four, throwing in a blitz every now and then. Minnesota used this very well against the giants. Eli has proven he can beat the blitz, but he could have at least two to three interception a game based on how many opposing teams have dropped. He gets impatient and will throw arrant passes into coverage. it will be important for us to fight our tendencies in the fourth and mix it up a bit. he has shown to be a good 4th quarter QB. of coarse this is all mute if the boys can’t slow down Tiki in both the running and passing game. I think if we make getting picks a priority we will have some opportunities.

Anyway that’s my two cents.

We were very effective throwing on them in game 1 and the key to being effective in game 2 is protecting Bledsoe.

BINGO!

Here is the weather forrecast. Doesn't seem like wind is gonna be that much of a factor.

Partly Cloudy High
42°F

Precip
20%

Wind: WNW 12 mph
Max. Humidity: 53%
UV Index: 2 Low

Here's my strategy.

HOLD ONTO THE DAMN BALL!!!!

We dominated these guys last time, but kept them in the game with excessive turnovers. We keep ourselves in the black on TO margin, we get a win. We're so much more a balanced team, if we hang onto the ball, we can't be stopped.

The first game would have taken on a far different complexion had we not turned the ball over 4 times. How often does a team turn it over 4 times and still win the game. Their offense was totally ineffective until the last 2 minutes of the game. I think if we protect the ball and play solid defense we should win this game.

There is no way, our young tackle can handle Strahan & the other DE singlehandly. So, watch for lots of max protect and running the ball. Parcell going to play field postition and try to win the game in the 4th quarter.

I do like the fact that this is now Pettiti's second time facing Strahan.

Good point, factor in that this is in front of his homeboys and he is going to have to play with alot of pride.

i think, this is actually a disavantage for Pettiti. Strahan is very smart and now know what Pettiti weakness are. He's going to take full advantage of Pettiti. It's going to be a long day for Rob.

I got a strategy...score more points than the G-Men. Dude, I should be an NFL coach...that is pure genius!!!!!

You mean like every Giants game? This is my point to people that claim Eli is some world beater. Hooray! He can play against a prevent defense, in a no huddle offense that prevents the defense from switching their personnel! I'm unimpressed. That being said, if we're not up by two scores with under two minutes, Bill better damn sure keep the pressure on!

If only we could get those outside screens working like the days of Dorsett. It would take alot of pressure off our tackles.

That is one reason we have to open it up and pass a good bit on 1st down when Strahan and company are not teeing off. On second and long through in some draws and screens. Got to keep those ends honest!

Their run defense is actually better than ours but their pass defense stinks.
We need to max protect and pass.

I wouldn't mind some pump fakes to come out every once in a while a la Champ Bailey. (After the pick of course)

Yup, they've been loading up the box to stop the run. we need to make them pay for that and set them on thier heals. i know we can beat these guys soundly if we show some balls and play our game. I was much more worried about the philly game than these guys. It will be a waste if we don't do it now and knock these suckers out!!!!

I'm not sure I agree with that strategy...

I think to beat the Giants...

Defense:

Stop Tiki and force Eli to pass the ball. Eli has a horrible completion percentage and can't sustain drives if Tiki isn't breaking mid-distance runs. Force Eli to pass 50 times a game and you'll win. Also Newman or Henry can play Buress man to man and Shokey can be stopped with some zone interior coverage. No one else on that offense scares me. However if Tiki is able to run for a 4+ average then we will lose the game.

Offense:

The Giants D is not outstanding against the run. They have a good front 4 and MLB, but they are weak against the run if you can penetrate the D-line. 22% of all runs go for 10+ yards which is 26th in the league. They also give up successful short yardage runs about 60% of the time which is good but not outstanding. Teams run off takle to take advantage of the sub-par OLBs and to tire the Giants great DEs. If you sit back and pass you play to the strengths of the Giants D by allowing them to focus on the pass rush and play zone defense in the secondary. You have to make the Giants fear the run in order to open up the passing game. This is even more important considering the weaknesses we have at Tackle.

Our biggest weakness going into this game will be at blocking back. Our interior 3 O-Linemen can create holes, but we don't have a player on the field that can knock Antonio Pierce off the play. Maybe we can send Polite to Balco for the week leading up to the game for a little "training".

Overall I'd run early and often and play ball control offense. Let your D and ST create good field position and pass later once you have pulled their safeties up.
