Hugh Douglas, who condemmed Riley Cooper, an ESPN host and former Philadelphia Eagles player, reportedly called black ESPN co-host Michael Smith a "House [N-word]" and an "Uncle Tom" last Friday at an event hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists in Orlando, Florida.
Three "independent sources" verified the incident to the sports website The Big Lead, which has had a track record of breaking stories about ESPN.
The day before at the conference, Douglas, who is reportedly jealous that Smith is close friends with Jemele Hill, a female "Numbers Never Lie" co-host, tried to interrupt Smith and Hill as they were "talking to a couple hundred association members at a hotel about the pair’s online podcast, 'His and Hers with Michael Smith and Jemele Hill,' when Douglas showed up looking for a piece of the action."

Well, it's just my opinion but I happen to think that Michael Smith is one of the best young Reporters/Analyst/Commentators in sports.

Hugh Douglas, on the other hand, he should be a case study in Ebonics. Dumb move by Douglas IMO. He'll be looking for a job soon I suspect. Fox might be hiring.

This won't even make a blip on the interwebs. The whole ridiculously offensive, "I can use it because, well, I am" faction, will sweep this under the rug w/ 1 side of their mouth's, while continuing to bang the drum of how Zimmerman and Cooper are the second-coming of Jim Crow.

Well I don't see how or why anyone would make it a race issue. It just seems like a one sided tiff between co-workers at this point.

But we'll see how the media splits it in order to lure and divide an audience like they've been doing the last few weeks. It's been sickening.

Don't get political with this people. You can talk about the participants yada but don't drag it all into the political arena.

Its the fact that its virtually the same incident that happened with Riley Cooper..

One person gets thrown under the bus completely and is publicly condemned, is called a racist, calls for his job, saying he should move to another place, must undergo sensitivity training, etc..

The other.. not a word about the incident really at all. No outrage, no cries for his job, for sensitivity training, none of that crap.

Not suprised though..

The reason why this isn't a bigger deal is because Riley's video was all over the web, and Hugh Douglas' isn't. Frankly, not many people know it happened yet.

His actions are not acceptable to me, and it wouldn't surprise me if the consequences of his actions leave him unemployed, as Cooper should've been.

The story has been reported on many major sports news sites.. so if the media wanted to blow it up and make a huge deal about it, they certainly could have.. like they did with the Cooper thing.

What he did was just as offensive as what Cooper did..

Hugh Douglas has been fired over this incident. Of course, you won't hear anything about it on ESPN since they love airing everyone else's dirty laundry, but get incredibly silent every single time one of their own does something like this.

Hugh Douglas deserved to be fired! And I don't mean because of this, he just sucks! He is less eloquent than emmitt was, without being one of the greatest football players ever

Curious if we hear any uproar over Hugh losing his job now..
