WME drops Mel Gibson
http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/risky-business-wme-drops-mel-gibson.html

By Kim Masters, The Hollywood Reporter · July 9, 2010

Mel Gibson has been dropped by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.
Earlier this week, the agency's Patrick Whitesell informed the actors' representatives that he would no longer be represented by the agency.
Gibson's longtime agent, Ed Limato, died July 3, and a funeral will take place in New York next week.
WME partner Ari Emanuel had previously expressed hostility toward Gibson after the actor made anti-Semitic remarks and made remarks implying skepticism about the Holocaust.
An agency source said the only reason the agency had represented Gibson in the first place was his association with Limato. "Mel was really important to Ed," an agency source said. "He was with him for 32 years and I think Ed saw him as a son." But he added, "The world knows how Ari feels and he has never changed that opinion."
Gibson's troubles have only increased in recent weeks with allegations of bigoted tirades against blacks and Latinos and reports that he is under investigation for assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Several studio executives have said in the wake of these disclosures that they consider the troubled actor to untouchable in the industry. "I'd rather get engaged to Lindsay Lohan than have anything to do with him," one studio chief said.
A spokesman for Gibson said the star had always planned to do without an agent after Limato's death. He added, "At this point he doesn't seem to be in need of an agent." He said Gibson has projects lined up for the next two years. Those include starring roles in two films: "The Beaver," a dark comedy directed by and co-starring Jodie Foster, and "How I Spent My Summer Vacation," that Gibson co-wrote.
News of WME dropping Gibson came to light as audio of Gibson berating Oksana Grigorieva surfaced on Radar Online.

Yet some in Hollywood are perfectly fine turning out Roman Polanski films...

I haven't found him watchable in years, nevermind the fact that he is crazy and a racist.

ROFL, just because someone uses the "N" word does not make them a racist, I've known a ton of people myself included who when they've lost their temper call someone a "N", it doesn't matter if they are white or black. Hell I've known tons of Black guys call other's the "N" word again it doesn't matter if they are Black or white. So IMO just by using the "N" word doesn't make someone a racist.

I still like Mel and will watch any movie he's in or makes, he's a better director these days than an actor but I still enjoy his movies...

I have to disagree with those that say the guy is "irrelevant". I thought Edge of Darkness was pretty good.

It is very unfortunate that he appears to be a racists as I think he is a very talented actor and director.

When I first heard about this newest tirade, I started to wonder what type of relationship he and Danny Glover have.

Nobody that says that word is not a racist. And you'll never convince anyone else in the world of that.

You understand that, by proxy, you've inherently admitted you condone racism right?

you're full of ****, I would be willing to bet my next years worth of paychecks that over half of the members of this board have called someone the "N" word one time or another, does that make everyone who's ever used the Taboo "N" word racist? Once morons get over the fact it's just another word and not a racial slur then most of the racial tension over the word will go away. Why is it a group of black people can call white people "N" word but if a white person calls a black person or another white person the "N" word they are a racist. it's double standards, blacks cry racism all day long, when the majority of the racism I see is black to white. it's a derogatory word regardless if it's used towards a white or black person, it has nothing to do with race IMO.
