The Commanders traded a 7th round pick for a linebacker, then cut him after a single practice.

No, everything is different now that Vinny Cerrato is gone. Completely different team, front office. Daniel Snyder hasn't even been around the team's offices this preseason.

Stupid Commanders fans. One day you'll wake up and realize nothing is going to change with your organization as long as Danny Boy runs the show.

What team was it they traded the 7th round pick too?

Sometimes teams make stupid trades on paper to finish deals of the past.

When a trades talks about bla bla bla and future considerations this could have been the finial piece. Looking at him for a single practice may have just been well we have him here might as well take a look.

It was a conditional draft pick. The conditions haven't come out in the media yet, but with such a a quick release of the guy it's being speculated that the condition for giving up the draft pick was that he make the team (or something along those lines)...It's very possible that the Skins gave up nothing to bring the guy in.

it is a conditional pick. in pretty much every case that means he has to make the roster.

sounds like a smart move. they got a look, didn't like him and cut bait. cost them NOTHING

It was for a CONDITIONAL pick. That article was so bad Mosley didn't even get the facts straight. No surprise it was confusing. Hall Davis, the player in question was drafted by the Rams in the 5th round. The Skins traded a conditional pick for the player contingent on him making the roster.

They in turn traded Dennis Morris to the Rams for a conditional pick. Shanahan was quoted as saying that Morris wasn't going to make the team anyway.

Bascially, the Skins traded nothing for nothing. No harm, no foul. That is all.

I think it was for a conditional pick, can anyone confirm that?

Maybe bad article as opposed to bad Commanders move?

Other than the fact that every 'Skins move is de facto a bad one.

The take home message here is that future draft picks are still being treated the same despite the howls from the 'Skins fans that this is a new era, post-Vinnie.

Conditional or not, Danny is still trying to trade 'em away.

Well, my take was they wanted to entice the Rams into taking Dennis Morris, for a conditional pick, so they did a tit for tat trade with a conditional pick, then once the Rams got Morris in the door, they cut Hall Davis. This is pure speculation on my part, but it makes the most sense to me.
Certainly Morris has a decent shot at making the Rams, so once there, we may get a 7th or whatever the conditional pick was.
I don't see it as exactly the same as before, but clearly Allen and MS aren't big "build through the draft" type guys any more then the last 10 years, so maybe that was your point.

Come on, you think Danny had any hand in those two trades? I doubt it.

Conditional is the key word in this whole deal :lmao:

Seriously man, you can't be this dense.

That is exactly what was done there. Not a very hard concept to grasp, and it looks like all the Cowboy fans except for the OP understood that in this thread

Well, the NFLPA is double checking the Rams/Skins intentions:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5518992

The NFL Players Association is monitoring a little-known "85-percent rule" in 2010 after two minor trades this week involving rookie players were made, according to union and league sources.

Under the rule, which is only applicable in an uncapped year, any drafted rookie that is cut by his team is guaranteed 85 percent of his first-year minimum-wage $310,000 salary.

However, the union believes the Commanders and Rams circumvented the rule when they exchanged rookie players in separate transactions earlier this week. The Commanders traded rookie tight end/fullback Dennis Morris to the Rams for a future conditional draft pick; the Commanders then acquired rookie linebacker Hall Davis, also for a conditional draft pick.

Davis was cut by the Commanders after he practiced just once, on Tuesday. Davis will not be paid $272,000 he would have been due if the Rams had cut him. The Rams are expected to release Morris when yet they make their final roster cuts this week from 75 to 53.
