Barber looks done to me. He is slow and not breaking tackles.
Felix has not returned to his quick/fast self and is running tentative. Plus we know about his injury challenges so far.
Choice is really solid - but not a game breaker.

Going into the season, this was supposed to be one of our top positions. I now think it is potentially a weak spot.

Yes I know the Oline isn't run blocking well, but there are yards being left on the field by our RBs.

Thoughts?

The running backs had no chance today. Period. It pains me to say it, but the O-Line looked like crap out there today. Yeah, give the Giants credit, but we had 250 yards on the ground against them last time. Our run blocking was atrocious. It concerns me.

Indeed. Our guys in the trenches showed 0 fire tonight.

The team lacks an offensive identity. Our running game lacks an identity, because we have 3 backs, but we can't figure out how to use them correctly. Barber was named the starter by our owner and as a result we try to force feed him the ball too much, rather than using him to his strengths as a closer. Oh, and the O-Line was terrible today.

Looking forward (sort of) to Sturm's blog this week. While I definitely think giving so many carries to Barber was a mistake, fact is we flat out got manhandled up front by a team the Oline dominated in week 2.

Barber looks slow hitting the hole. At least today he did. Perhaps that's because there was no hole.

How many running plays do we have? It seems to me like we run the same 5 plays all year long. Sure, it's worked to this point. But don't you have to at some point start giving opposing defenses another look?

You arnt watching the same games I am then, because I didnt see any yards left on the field yesterday at all. It was a combination of a truly pathetic OL performance and a defensive game plan by a team bound and destermined to not let us run.

Sorry, but your post is wrong.

We could have had Emmitt, Jim Brown and Walter Payton at RB and it wouldn't have mattered. The oline was getting blown off the ball. No blocking = no yards

Exactly. Sometimes I wish people would be specific and say something like, "Well, Barber or Felix or Choice could have done something on this or that play blah blah blah". Then I could post the video of that same play and ask, "Wut"?

It's like we, the forum, are watching two different games at the same time. The very first thing I pay attention to on every play is how well the offensive line is blocking. You can kinda gauge just how successful a running play will be executed from just that. It always starts upfront with the offensive line.

Ok. Did you guys see any yards left on the field on the 2nd and 3 play (I think in the 3rd quarter) when barber got the carry up the middle. He cut back to the right, and then lost 1 yard. It made it 3rd and 4.

There was enough of a hole there, it was a horrible run.

Obviously the oline got blown off the ball yesterday, but the RBs are underperforming.

I like Barber as a receiver out of the backfield, but yeah, he's not what he was running the ball. I mean, he makes it look good by flopping, twitching, fexing, etc after each 2 yard run.... but I honestly think we'd be much better off with Choice running.

2nd & 3. Third Quarter. 3rd & 4. Got it. I will check it out after I get off work.

it's not UNSTABLE it's our OC is pathetic and our OL is never allowed to get into "running mode" and start smacking people around because just-a-coach decides you need to pass 50 times a game.

barber, another jerrry prepayment special joke is our finisher

choice/felix are our starters which is obvious to anyone with a clue (not jerryworld coaches )
