The last time the Cowboys telegraphed their pick it turned out to be a debacle. Bobby Carpenter was seen as a safe conservative pick and everyone predicted the Cowboys would select him. I just have a feeling Surtain Jr. may end up in the same category. This whole situation seems like an arranged marriage just like the Bobby Carpenter selection.

Yeah Carpenter has lots of things in common with Surtain.

Good thread for nfl draft comps, to be fair

T. Lawrence reminds me T. Charlton
Z Wilson reminds me of Z. Martin
J. Chase reminds me of J. Lewis
K. Pitts reminds me of K. Smith

I don't see anything similar with Surtain possible selection and that of Carpenter.

maybe, maybe not. its pre-draft time and lots of talks and rumors. everyone and their grand mother knows we need defensive help, so that's not a secret, and they know we need CBs. so cowboys, much like everybody else are doing their due diligence, so this maybe a ploy by the cowboys, perhaps somebody interested in Surtain, may trade ahead of us to take him, which means another good player will drop to us (ala Pitts).

Should we start calling Patrick Surtain Jr, Patricia?

Sooooo, because Carpenter busted 15 years ago, we should no longer make safe picks? Only take big chances?

Since Taco was an incredible bust, what lessons do we learn from that? Don't take defensive ends? Don't draft Michigan players?

or....he's this generations Mel Renfro.
you just never know.
