Bass made a good block on the winning touchdown. He helped Smith out and put the defender on the ground and made him eat dirt. It was outstanding. I liked that they put Bass in and moved Tyler Smith to left tackle.

Bass looked serviceable at times and very good at others.

He needs more playing time, he might be 70's replacement at some point, keep him in!

Let Guyton recover and put him at RT when he returns. Steele is going to get 4 killed.

Smith your LT and Guyton RT with Steele and Asim Richards as depth is not a bad path. Dallas seems unmovable in leaving Steele in place . I would even say Asim Richards might challenge Steele .

Bass does seem likely as Zack Martins eventual replacement

Richards would have to show he can play on the right side. That's a tough transition for many left-side players.

Most of the film watchers are saying overall Bass was in the "really bad - meh" range.

Steele is has a low CAP impact this year ($6.5 million) but he also has a $750k roster bonus. Next year he is due $13 million salary with an $18 million CAP number, and also a $750k per game roster bonus. If he plays 17 games he gets another $12 million in roster bonuses. I do not see Dallas paying Steele $25 million next year. My guess is they trade him or release him.

Let's see how Tyler Smith does at LT but moving Guyton to the right side and Smith playing LT seems like a logical plan. Bass, Hoffman and Richards, or even Josh Ball can take the guard spots. The Cowboys can use next year's draft to find move depth at OT.

Edit: Steele's 2025 salary is already guaranteed. So he would have to be traded to another team that would be willing to pay him that much.

Bass is about as tough of a player to evaluate as any OL I've seen. Play to play he can like a pro bowl G and then look like someone who needs to go back to the bench. He had a few really ugly plays in the 3rd quarter where he just completely whiffed but overall seemed OK yet limited in what he can do. Seems to be plenty strong enough to play the position, but sometimes you see that on tape and sometimes you dont. Its almost like he has the physical ability but lacks that mean streak so he doesnt always play up to his strength. He also looks very light on his feet at times and seems to move well, but other times he just looks like a semi truck that needs some extra time to get going, especially when moving laterally. Pretty good feet mechanics, but needs work with his hands. If he cant get his hands set or if he needs to reset his hands its almost like his brain cant process what to do quick enough and hes beat.

Probably need a better evaluator than me to say if this stuff can be coached or not.

Bass played well during that last drive, but he struggled a little earlier when he first came in. Overall, he improved and played well as the game progressed.
I remember when I played football in High School, I played OG, but one practice my coach told me to go play DE because Our DE got hurt and we were short of players. I had never played DE and had no idea what I was doing. I was reminded of that experience when I saw Bass playing LG when he first came in the game.

It always confuses me how film watchers can say we did a great job blocking and have zero run game, then on a day we actually gashed Pittsburgh they say our blocking was meh.

T.J. Bass is a solid player, for one of little experience. I trust him to do a good job, since his past efforts seemed quite capable.
