They are not seeking money it the suit quite

The suit against the YUM-brands chain also has a "beef" with the company's advertising, charging its claims of using "seasoned ground beef" or "seasoned beef" in its food products is false.

According to the suit filed by the Alabama law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, the YUM-brands owned chain is using a meat mixture that contains binders and extenders, and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as "beef.”

Attorney Dee Miles said the meat mixture contained just 35 percent beef, with the remaining 65 percent containing water, wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodrextrin, anti-dusting agent and modified corn starch.

anti-dusting agent; I wonder if that is what makes you :gassy3: afterwards

Look I never have any illusions of what i am getting at a fast food chain

35% beef?

I'm impressed. I thought it would be much lower than that. :)

Now lets hear about the grade/quality of the said beef, however much of it is in there. Last i heard it was Grade D or F. I didn't even know there was a grade F.

Why would anyone complain (let alone sue) about getting garbage when they go to a dump?

I'd imagine most fast food taco joints have pretty similar things going on. I know for a fact that any taco you get from a drive thru doesn't have even close to the same consistency that tacos you make at home using real ground beef do.

Haha...there wasn't until they analyzed Taco Bell "beef".

Taco Bell is delicious and I will continue to eat there regardless of how much beef I get !

Taco bell, pizza hut,KFC, LJ silvers and A&W root beer are all under the wonderful guidance and ownership of YUM foods. None of these places taste remotely as good as they were back in the day{1980s and earlier}.
They have skrimped and changed ingredients and the food if eaten concistently is nothing but poison.
If you value your health id avoid these places along with McDonalds and many others.

I had no idea junk food monopolies existed. Jeez, how much worse could it get?

This news is a couple of weeks old. Taco Bell has already responded to it.

In full-page ads in newspapers, Taco Bell said “Thank You For Suing Us” and defended its beef products, saying they contain 88 percent beef, not the 35 percent claimed by the lawsuit. Stated the company:

“The claims made against Taco Bell and our seasoned beef are absolutely false. Our beef is 100% USDA inspected, just like the quality beef you buy in a supermarket and prepare in your home. It is then slow-cooked and simmered in our unique recipe of seasonings, spices, water, and other ingredients to provide Taco Bell’s signature taste and texture.”

The ad goes on to say: “So here are the REAL percentages: 88% Beef and 12% Secret Recipe.”

It’s also backing up its product, saying it’ll give a free taco to every customer who “Likes” Taco Bell on the establishment’s Facebook page. (The offer is restricted to 10 million customers). Click here and here for stories from Time and Bloomberg, respectively.

...this December in Mexico on a corporate retreat.

The food was great and I enjoyed everything except...this breakfast soup. It looked like tomato soup, but had tripe in it and smelled like a horse's behind. They called it Menudo - just like the boy band of the 80's.

I got a bit more suspicious about traditional Mexican food after that experience.

The stuff they sell the gringos looks and tastes great. Some of the stuff they ate themselves was a bit more challenging.

No worse than when you travel to Asia.

88% of what? An entire batch for a stores worth of ground beef? Broken down to tacos and whatnot, it's spread out to an unsavory degree I'd bet. :laugh2:

I think I heard of this in Hos's linked thread... I didn't know it had tripe n it. I don't get that particular ingredient myself. Nasty.

If menudo is made right, it is great. If not, it sucks.

I enjoy just about every authentic traditional Mexican food, all the variations from the different regions. However, Menudo is one that i don't care for. It's not the ingredients that bother me but the way its prepared. I just can't get over the aroma. We have a dish made from same or similar ingredients in my culture that i like quite a bit.

...a good dish of tripe, but the Menudo was a bit tough for me.

I cna eat just about anything, but that dish ranks right up there with Lutefisk.
