Dallas has given their DC's a lot of input in the draft over the years.
Gave Rob Ryan the offseason keys in 2012 which resulted in the team getting him man corners in Carr(FA) and Claiborne.
They listen to Rod over their scouts a few times, and after the first "argument" between Rod and the scouts they brought in Will McClay to centralize the voices on draft day.

There were some concerns with TJ, his health and size. Dallas didn't know if he could be an edge or more of a traditional 4-3 LB. Clearly, in this case he has proven his durability and well his size has held up fine as an edge rusher.
What's interesting is that Dan Quinn traded up for Takk, and even he "missed" on TJ Watt.

If we had drafted TJ Watt....Maranelli and Garrett may still be here and we wouldn't have Diggs or Parsons....

TJ now has 17 sacks…

Can anyone think of a bigger draft blunder in the past 50 years?

Get over it. If Dallas had Watt they'd have paid him $100 million, wouldn't have drafted Parsons, and still would be chasing the elusive number six.

If you're picturing Watt and Parsons you're living in a fantasy world.

Let’s hope those years are behind us! I’ve got to believe our clueless GM has loosened his reign…at least a little.

It wasn’t stupid at all Zeke has been a very good player for us. Ramsey isn’t even with his original team anymore. He probably would’ve started crap with us. Some of these players think they’re too big for their own team and force their way out.

Mo was a bigger blunder, much bigger.

However we didn’t pass him up for what may be a future Hall of Fame player at the same position. That’s what makes the Taco over Watt pick so bad.

We'd probably just have TJ Watt stand in the middle of the field all game completely away from the play like we did with Parsons today.
Actually if the Cowboys had Watt they probably would of passed on Parson for offensive line.

Ellis over Moss is easily worse.

Dallas was picking at #28 and TJ Watt was not a special draft prospect. He's proven expectations very wrong and he's stayed healthy(ish), which was a big question mark for him.

Honestly, taking Jaylon instead of Chris Jones or Xavien Howard in 2016 is a comparable miss, IMO. Not getting Watt isn't that devastating to me.

Win some, lose some.

Au contraire. We gave up multiple picks to move up to get him. Taco cost us a late first. Mo cost us a 1st and a 2nd.

Jaylon Smith, Escobar, letting the OL fall apart, letting the DLine fall apart, focusing on WR's and CB's while ignoring S and DT. Those are all bigger.

We've been over this again and again.

First of all it's a matter of opinion, we don't agree.

Second it's old news, time to move on...
Then move on sugar cookie!!!!!

Brockers/Bobby Wagner, the two guys we wouldn't taken instead of trading up for MO, were a monstrous loss that is still costing us.

Not draft OL's, and then not drafting DL's, are what has cost this franchise multiple playoff slots. Much bigger loss than one pass rusher.
