Cardinals OG Deuce Lutui reportedly weighed in at a whopping 396 pounds when he arrived in Arizona recently.

Lutui skipped the entire offseason program while waiting to sign his RFA tender, and he apparently had trouble putting the fork down the past few months. Lutui typically plays in the 340-350 range, so he'll have to drop 50 pounds by September. Already in a fight for his starting job, he'll be severely handicapped versus Reggie Wells and Rex Hadnot

His job isn't the only thing he's going to be in a fight for if he doesn't get that weight under control. His health and life are going to go downhill very fast at that kind of weight.

That's the first thing that came to my mind when I read that. Trying to lose 40 -50 pounds in a couple of months is not only a challenge, it poses some serious risks.

eh yes and no. when you get up that high in weight 40-50 pounds is not that hard to lose, especially with the amount of exercise an NFL player does, and also the more you weigh the safer it is to lose large sums of weight quickly as long as its done the right way.
