Taking over for Flozell Next year

to be honest with you...for this kind of scratch...I want Leaonard Davis to take over at LT next year when Flozell Adams is shown the door...BUT for this year he can play guard or tackle....look folks, we have played with Torring Tucker and Rob Pettiti at tackle...and missed the playoffs by one game...with an immobile QB like Bledsoe...so I am not nearly as worried as some people are about Davis on the left side.

So I think this draft should be about finding an interior OL..which we do not HAVE to do in the 1st round. Give Davis a year to get acclimated in Dallas and to this coaching staff. Give Davis a year to see what it is like to play for a team that is one of the premiere teams in the NFL. Give Davis a chance to appreciate being on National TV 6 or 7 times a year. He can and will live up to being the #2 overall pick. He has everything physically you need to play the tackle position. He is back in Texas. And here's to hoping we have filled the biggest piece on the OL for the next 5+ years.

Did you see the stats on his last year as LT for the Cards. MUCH worse then the Hotel- and the Hotel was coming off of a knee injury. Davis is a very good guard who COULD be great there. He is passable as a tackle.

Just using FACTS. You should try it.

Have you seen the stats of the Arizona Cardinals in general throught the franchise history....how many QBs did the Cards go through...what kind of running game did the cards have....I could go on and on...but bad environments can cause players to play below their talent...not saying this is excusable...but it happens....Randy Moss in Oakland looks like a scrub...when we ALL know he is not.....look, maybe I should have said I am hopeful, because I do NOT think Flo will be back next year and if this is what we are going to pay for guards that have never been to the Pro Bowl...God help us when we have to re-sign T-New and Romo

I have more hope that McQ is a better LT than Davis. Davis isn't as good facing speed rushers all the time. Leave him at guard or RT.

Here is the delima. What happens next year when Flozell. We have already broke the bank with Davis, Riveria, Kosier, and Gurode. I think this is why Columbo hasn't been resigned yet. Because Flozell is due next year. If we sign Columbo for $6M/yr (probably asking for $7M) and then Flozell comes due and he will be looking at around $8M-$9M being a pro-bowl left tackle. Lets count how much our offensive line cost per year next year if Columbo and Flozell are resigned!

Flozell $9M
Kosier $3M
Gurode $5M
Davis $7M
Columbo $6.5M (just a guess)

That comes out around $30.5M a year for the offensive line!?!?!?! Thats is about 30% of the salary cap just for the offensive line. While I think it's one of the most important parts of the team, you will have serious cap trouble if you do this... The question is. What exactly do you do to balance it out?

Did you know that Edge's ypc to the left side was better than any other point on the line? By nearly half a yard?

Maybe he's just the best of a bad bunch, but Dennis Green was an idiot for moving him, and he apparently made the best of it. I wonder what "stats" we're talking about here.

Nobody questions Davis' ability to run block. It's his ability to pass protect that throws up the question marks.

I am talking about the W-L record of the Cards...I am talking about the fan support of the Cards...I am talking about the presence of talent on the Cards..I am talking about the coaching on the Cards...what I am saying is that the Cards are a bad organization...and I think Leoanard Davis cannot be TOTALLY judged based on playing for the Arizona freaking Cardinals...like I said, I am hopeful he can be more than a guard for us..because if he is not...God help us at Tackle. Flo is in the last year of his contract and Colmobo is a free agent...again, I am hopeful
