Sorry but if I was a ref I would do the same thing. According to the rules though they were punished...

But thats not really my point, my point is when assessing how our defense played, we should say that we gave up a TD on that play. Never again in the history of the NFL will a player drop the ball on the 1 yard line going in for a TD.

No, they weren't punished. And if you were a ref and made the same mistake, then you're jsut as sorry as that sorry ref.

I understand your point, our D sucked on that play (and most of the day). But giving them the ball 1st and Goal from the 1 in that situation isn't "Punishment" especially when it's OBVIOUS we would have recovered AND had a HUGE return.

But we didn't recover. If you have a problem with the rule, I agree, but the refs did was the rule states.

The only reason we didn't recover is cuz the play was ruled dead. Even if Adam Jones had picked up the ball even after hearing the whistle, it still would have been 1st and goal from the 1 for the Eagles since it was whistled dead.

Did you not see the Broncos/Chargers game yesterday? IT's the EXACT same thing, pretty much.

And the screwup (OBVIOUSLY) isn't from what the refs did AFTER the play was over, the screwup was not calling it a fumble in the first place. The screwup was whistling the play dead.

I agree with everything you just said, but its the rule. Yes it was a bad call by the refs, but there were worse calls.

I think the refs made the right call by signaling it a TD i mean because why wouldn't they. it looked like he scored a TD. And Speaking of Desean Jackson. He's probably the only receiver that i wish we could have drafted in this years draft.

Like I said, my problem isn't with the ruling (although the rule needs to be changed, obviously). My problem was the ref screwing up in the first place.

Obviously you're wrong since the refs DID overturn the play.

The ref lost focus, plain and simple. Half the fans in the stadium and even Adam Jones (who had the worst angle of the play) knew he didn't cross the goalline. It was a lazy call by the ref.

teams complete a lot of passes on us when we play zone. we need to let those guys play man, and send our ILBs along with our OLBs, after the QB

Agreed AND makes a big statement in the toughest division in the NFL too.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Agreed on all three.

TO's - gotta force some.
Yes we need to play more BREAK and less BEND on defense... or atleast mix it up.
It may... not yet. I would like to see more. But I will take this as a good start.

Al Michaels called it right away, too.
