Anybody else watch the Sprint Cup NASCAR race yesterday? WOW! That was one great race...record number of different leaders and lead changes, and the eighth closest finish in Cup history. ...and pretty funny seeing the tension build between the 24 and 48, boggle.

I saw parts of it and it was exciting. Those are type races at Talladaga that I love. Those are my favorite races.

I don't blame Gordon for being pissed about Johnson trying to block him. Very easily could have caused a big wreck. Teammates that can't get along.

Isn't Gordon part owner of the 48?

No. Gordon and Johnson both drive for team owner Rick Hendrick.

Gordon does own part of #48

Gordon, along with Rick Hendrick, are the co-owners of the #48 Lowe's sponsored team, driven by Jimmie Johnson, who won the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Sprint Cup series championships. Gordon also has an equity stake in his own #24 team. He was born in Vallejo, California, raised in Pittsboro, Indiana, and currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.

HAHA! Talk about "Sticking it to the Man". Bad driving by Johnson, but it's not like he is a Busch and does this type of stuff a lot. He manned up to it which says a lot.

I'm still waiting for his apology to Greg Biffle for taking the nose of his car off on the backstretch.:(

Fixed it.

Nothing to fix, yes it can be dangerous it also leads to very exciting racing. I don't want to see anyone hurt and very proud of how NASCAR has regulated the cars in terms of safety.

They should take the restrictor plates off.

Taking them off would keep them from grouping together but the increase in speed would make things dangerous also. However with the increase in safety over the last few years it probably wouldn't be as big a risk. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they took them off.

Better racing.

How much faster do you really think those cars would go without restrictor plates? 220? So an increase of about 10% of speed is what we are talking about.

The only thing restrictor plates do is 1. bunch up cars and make it appear that there is some great racing going on and 2. wreck a bunch of cars all at one time.

I know there are NASCAR "fans" who watch just for the wrecks but that sure as heck isn't racing.

The drivers safety is only part of it, the other part is fan safety. You get these cars going 240mph and you're going to end up with them landing in peoples' laps.

Plus, the racing is much more exciting with restrictor plates.

Well let's recount. What was it...a record 29 leader changes? 88 total leader changes? Both NASCAR records? Something like that. Oh, and a photo finish at the end, with the 8th closest finish in timed history in NASCAR?

We didn't have the "big one" but had some good small ones for sure.

So did it "APPEAR" there was great racing? No. It was DAMN GOOD RACING. Actually the BEST EVER.

Was there a HUGE wreck of cars? No. The most involved were nine cars. That is not huge by NASCAR or Talladega standards.

The restrictor plates and the new spoiler evened the field, and it made for a wild wide-open event, probably the best ever seen. Witness the record number of unique leaders and lead changes, plus the photo finish.

How could you possibly want more. Other than your favorite driver to dominate and win.

I freaking LOVED this race. NASCAR got it exactly right.
