T.O. - this added piece of team responsibility might make him more accountable to the team. I am thinking about what this honor did for Joe Namath when his teammates thought he was a unaccountable.
Romo?

Fergie
Williams
Ware
Newman?

There is no doubt in my mind that Tony Romo is the leader of that offense. It is his huddle and it is his job to get his weapons the ball. Offense players are not going to be going to TO about getting them the ball they will go to the guy who controls that ball.

Mat MacBriar - I wouldn't be opposed to having the most dominant punter as a captain. That'd be cool.

I could live with that.

They just seem to be so tightly nit, leaders, anyway. The whole drive down to training camp together, Newman is more vocal than Roy, witten is (I think) one of our NFLPA reps, and Romo is a leader without saying.

Personally, I prefer for the players to vote on it.

He said in his presser that he would talk to his players about it - whether they vote on 1 set for the entire year or the staff selects 1 for each week.

There would be 3 total:
1 offense, 1 defense and 1 special teams captain.
The special teams captain is usually on each ST unit with the exception of Field Goal and Field Goal Block.

My guess:
Romo, James, K. Davis

My second guess:
Witten, Newman, K. Davis

Can we have an all Kicker and Punter captain team?

That would make Hostile oh so happy.

:D

Don't agree on Williams as team captain unless his teammates select him. Williams is a quiet guy except on the football field. He's not a leader and nowhere has he ever reportedly been so. I think the defensive side of the ball would be more likely to vote for Ferguson, Newman, Hamlin, Ware or maybe Aaron Glenn.

let's just cut roy and T.O. out of the captain talks. they are playmakers who do exactly that. romo, james, and newman should get it in my opinion.

Williams is no leader. He had every chance to take the reigns and never did. Newman has become the leader on D. Last season he got sick of stuff and started to call guys out.

Romo on offense
Ferguson on defense

IMO Roy isn't a leader. As far as leadership goes I'd say Ferguson, Newman (he called out TO last year w/o saying name), and probably Ken Hamlin (based on his personality) are ahead of Roy

I see where you are going... the Yankees did the same thing to Derek Jeter when he was staying out late all night and partying... I gotta tell ya... IT WORKED!!

But even I dont see it for TO.... I see TO as a guy who pumps up his team... whether it be the others receivers or defensive line or offensive line... he did that last year.
