If aTm scores before half here the rout is on.

Who is this Aggie receiver that they just said could possibly be a top 10 NFL draft pick? He doesn't look that great to me.

SMU could be in this game if Kyle Padron didn't completely crap the bed. Hard to dig out of a 14-0 hole against a team that good.

K, yeah Fuller. That one announcer wants to have his babies.

Swope definitely catches everything thrown his way. Tannehill needs to look down field and quit staring his target down.

Cyrus Gray is beast like.

I don't think aTm beats Ok State or OU though.

A&M won't beat OU in Norman, but Oklahoma State should be a win. Their defense just isnt very good at all.

The Aggie defense scares me. I know everyone [in Aggieland] was talking about the return of the Wrecking Crew, but this defense depends on the opponent to make mistakes. SMU dropped a lot of first downs and that won't happen against OkSt, OU, Baylor, or Arkansas. The offense looks great and won't have trouble scoring but I imagine we will see a lot of shootouts this year.

IMO, people are overreacting. Over the final 44 minutes of game time, A&M gave up only 150 total yards (70 of which were with the second team defense in), had seven sacks, allowed 2.6 YPC and gave up no points. SMU had two drops in that time, one being on a swing pass. Their QB also overthrew an open sideline route which would have been about a 15 yard gain.

A&M had some preseason jitters and blown coverages in the first quarter, but SMU did absolutely nothing on offense from the second quarter on. A&M had eight total sacks, almost all of which came with just three and four men rushing. Our best linebacker Damontre Moore also sat out serving a one game suspension for fighting in the offseason. And remember, this was all against an SMU team that finished top 15 nationally in total offense last year and is predicted to win Conference USA. Besides Baylor, A&M had the toughest week one opponent of any Big XII school and dispatched them rather easily. Meanwhile, Mizzu, Texas, Tech, Kansas, KSU and ISU all played vastly inferior competition and all were struggling with them at least well into the third quarter if not the fourth.

I'm trying to stay objective with it, but that is always hard to do. The defense was on the field a lot in the first half, and that no doubt added to their early trouble. SMU just appeared to make a bunch of mistakes that killed drives quickly. I hope DeRuyter was just trying to feel out his defense to see what they were capable of in a game that we were not going to lose.

Best stat of the game: +2 in turnovers

I was pretty impressed with A&M. Their D was carved up a bit in the 1st half but they made adjustments in the 2nd half. They were without their main pass rusher too (the guy who is supposed to replace Von Miller).

Coming into this game, I wanted to see if A&M could turn it up and look like a legit Top-15 team. Previous A&M teams would've made it interesting and only squeak out a win against SMU. Keep in mind SMU is a solid team in Conference USA, especially with an offensive guru like June Jones in charge. The only other Big 12 teams that played better competition this week were Baylor and Oklahoma.
