Texas has 12 classifications based on school size. From two 6 man team classifications all the way up to the large schools in 6A Division 1 and Division 2. This is playoff week in Texas where arguably the best high school football in the nation is played.
Shoutout to my old HS Port Neches-Groves who won their 1st state championship since 1975 (when there were only 5 classifications) defeating the Dallas South Oak Cliff team who had beat them in 2022.
If you want to watch some great football Bally Sports will be replaying this games in the coming days (FUBO). Duncanville (Dallas area) just defeated Galena Park Northshore (Houston area) in a battle of powerhouse high school teams. A lot of these players were watching now will be playing on Saturdays in Div 1 programs and some will be playing on Sundays (and Monday nites and now Thursdays).
Just good pure football.
