Hey it's May so we know the Rangers must be playing lights out ;)

In all honesty the team seems primed for a run at the AL West this year. CJ Wilson is pitching like a true ace. Rich Harden, Colby Lewis looks solid as well with Dustin Holland waiting in the wings.

However one cannot overstate the impact one Vladimir Guerrerro has made on this Ranger squad. It's really the perfect fit as he has just killed us in the BallPark. Now, he's hitting .435 at HOME, and has an OPS OF 1.207 which is otherworldly to say the least.

For the first time since 1999 it's nice to be a Rangers fan(04 and 09 notwithstanding) with a good shot at the playoffs this year

I really love how Rangers fans get all excited at the beginning of every MLB season, just to see their hopes snatched away every August.

Crazy right?

As far as the Rangers - I know the season is early, but this team just seems different. They are winning with small ball right now - not HR's.

The power potential is still there and they can still hack with the best of them, but now they have:

Speed : Andrus, Borbon, Kinsler, and Cruz
Power: Cruz, Hamilton, Vlad, Smoak, and Kinsler
On Base Guys: Andrus, Smoak, hopefully Borbon, and Young

Pitching: CJ is a legit ace right now
Harden can be an ace if he can find the strikezone!
Feldman's sinker isn't sinking and cutter isn't cutting right now, but hopefully he'll regain the form from last year.
Holland is making a start this week for Harrision - and he has been lights out in AAA this year.
And then there's Colby Lewis - what a changed pitcher. He is a legit #2 right now.

This team is better than previous incarnations. Solid to above average pitching, and the offense is coming around. Nelson Cruz is coming back from the Dl this week and the Rangers have a good opportunity to put some distance between them and the A's this week. Add that to the Amgels scuffling and the Mariners being offensively feeble, there is justified reason to be optimistic this year

The future is bright as the farm system is stocked with talent and Nolan Ryan and co seem committed to a stable long term plan for success.

Are they on the level of the Yankees, Rays or Twins? Not yet but the journey should be fun

I'd like to see the Rangers do well. They are well overdue.

So what?

I'm not one to pimp the Rangers when they haven't deserved it. The team has gone from 75 to 79 to 87 wins. They have progressed every year so far and the playoffs are a legit goal this year

Texas has the no.1 farm system according to Baseball America.

So sorry, forgive me for being optimistic.

I don't care if you're optimistic. I just think it's funny. So sorry, forgive me.
