Texting while walking will get you scrapes, cuts, sprains, even YouTube fame if you happen to fall into a fountain at the mall ... and starting next month, if you do it in Philadelphia, a $120 fine.

As part of the "Give Respect, Get Respect" program, which also targets sidewalk cyclists and drivers who "don't respect the bike lane," cops in the City of Brotherly Love will also ticket pedestrians who "text while they walk without looking ahead." Hundreds of warnings to oblivious bikers and drivers have been issued by the Philly Fuzz, who now turn their attention to text-destrians fouling the the sidewalks of the historic town.

So, can we look forward to another TV series like Parking Wars: Texting Wars? It is always entertaining watching Philadelphians going ballistic.

Philly must be about to default on their debt and looking for another revenue stream. :laugh2:

Cities are broke. They're starting to tax cat owners in San Diego.

I used to go to Philly often. They have cars parked on highway medians there, with no consequence. This is puzzling.

Helen A.S. Popkin should be ticketed for texting without facts.

My town requires a dog license, though I'm not sure why. Money definitely isn't the reason issue.

They should have started that a long time ago.

Those animals are disgusting. Pissing all over everything, leaving fur balls and hair everywhere.

Oh yeah I had heard something about that or in San Francisco there might be a law against selling pets.

Isn't that city a HUGE POS anyways? I find Parking Wars not only funny, but sad as well. It really seems like Philly is out to get its own citizens. Wait...that's funny too. Carry on.

Don't they all? For as long as I'd had a dog (basically all my life until 10 years ago), I always had to get it licensed.

Philly would be amazing if they could empty out the people and replace them with better ones. That is broad and generalizing, but in general Philly is horrible, because it's run by crap and is infested by crap. It has a lot of great history, architecture and museums. Too bad that holds little to no concern for the people keeping out paying customers that might actually help the city with it's money troubles if it's having money troubles.

I don't know. I have never had a dog license before. It was new to me! Maybe they did and I just didn't know.

What is the point of a dog license exactly? I never understood the benefit other than maybe easier contact if your pooch gets locked up.

Personally, I primarily only text when I am stationary. My phone allows me to talk as a text, which is fine except although it is good, it is not perfect.

I would prefer a call over a text 99% of the time. It takes longer to text a conversation.
