I am not a New Year's Eve or Day kind of guy, it's just another day to me. However, I did something one New Year's Eve that was empowering and would like to offer this thread up along those same lines except apply that to a decade.
My staff had been through a really rough year in 1995 and I decided we needed a symbolic gesture to rid ourselves of those events and not carry them forward. So, I got a 55 gallon drum for all of us to put those items that represented that to them and put a torch to it as we drank champagne and celebrated burning these hindrances.
One put in a divorce decree, another their marriage certificate, some had pictures and one young woman had made a list of all the self imposed things that she felt had been holding her back and some were just silent as they dropped something into the barrel but I noticed the smile on their faces when it was burning.
And to that end, I am asking the mods to delete this thread on January 2, make the symbolic gesture complete by sending these things away.
You do not have to explain if you don't want to just put it in the Dump and come back a week from today to see it is gone.
For me, it is 2011, lost my wife and 2016, lost my Mom. I will never forget but I want to choose how and when to remember.
