The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

I use to write the potential next season starting roster of the Dallas Cowboys from 1977 to 1993, follow the draft, UDFA, coaching changes which was assistants only from 1960 to 1989, and free agency (when it started in the NFL with Plan B).

I had a Cowboys spiral notebook planning like a GM. I have every published Mel Kiper Draft Report Blue Book from 1981, covering the time his wife was pregnant with his daughter, got hooked on with ESPN, and until daughter was a grown woman sadly telling me in 2014 they will not be mailing out the NFL Draft Report anymore. 2013 was the last Mel Kiper NFL Draft Report Blue Book mailed to aspiring Fan GMs.

I always hold out hope that the Dallas Cowboys would return for me to care again enthusiastic, and hopeful in an off season that would produce a Super Bowl team.

But, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry ruined by Jerry Dumbo GM Jones turning the Dallas Cowboys from the Cinderella carriage pulled by white horses into a rotten pumpkin pulled by mice as the Arlington Jonesboys. Jerry does not have a plan for a Super Bowl. But, since 1994, he has had a plan for the mice at the end of the regular season.
