I have done a bunch of these (and had a blast doing it) and in honor of Draft Day, I’m posting my best one and ‘wish list’ which somehow fell into place, in the hopes that this kind of luck rubs off on our Cowboys tonight and the days following.

13. Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama - I was able to leverage Sewell being available in a trade down with the Chargers. I received pick #47 and more and STILL got Surtain.

44. Trevon Moehrig S TCU - An embarrassment of riches, he was still here.

47. Jaelan Phillips EDGE Miami (FL)- I struggled deciding between he and Moehrig at #44 and Phillips ended up still being here!

75. Milton Williams DT Louisiana Tech - The good fortune continues.

115. Tutu Atwell WR Louisville - I would love to add a receiver and returner with speed and quickness.

120. Bobby Brown DT Texas A&M - Brings both size and physical ability.

133. Monty Rice LB Georgia - We need linebackers and Quinn likes ‘em fast.

144. Divine Deablo S Virginia Tech - I think he can be a Swiss Army knife in a Quinn defense. Maybe our Kam Chancellor?

155. Tommy Doyle OT Miami (OH) - Developmental swing tackle.

175. Shaka Toney EDGE Penn State - Another potential LEO candidate. Value too good to pass up.

179. Derrick Barnes LB Purdue - Another versatile linebacker add.

181. Darius Stills DT West Virginia - Value pick. Besides I have no use for our current DT group.

192. Kary Vincent Jr. CB LSU - Can you ever have too many good cornerbacks?

227. Alaric Jackson OT Iowa - A late favorite developmental tackle.

238. Jordon Scott DT Oregon - Late round gamble on a massive nose tackle.

Wow, 15 players Stash? The first 7 I love, although Phillips will be gone. Nice work.

That is an awful amount of picks. I think it would be good to combine a few of those to move up a tad. Or trade them for a future pick the following year.

The first three picks are good. Although, I am not sure Phillips last to 47. If it does, that is a red flag to me. I also like a few other names that I like in the mid rounds.

I've haven't commented on as many mock drafts this year but that's pretty good. I love all the pick. Bring 'em let 'em compete and see who sticks.

To be honest, I took a look at the current Cowboys roster and contracts and feel that you could add 16-17 players to this current team. It’s very top-heavy (and expensive) with plenty of unknowns and dead weight. I found roughly 36 guys that I would even want to keep.

Yeah. I considered both Moehrig and Phillips being there at #44 to be a crazy gift. To have Phillips still be there at #47 was incredible.

I absolutely love this draft and I mean all of the picks even the last one. IMO this would a dream draft but unfortunately reality will smack me in my head as some of those picks will not make it to when we are on the board. Great job though and thanks for sharing.

"Dead weight" translates in Jerry speak as "cornerstone."

Is the mock what you're hoping for or what you think will happen?

I'm not wild about Surtain at 10, but if the rest of it goes that way....it can't get much better overall.

Absolutely what I’m hoping for. I fear the worst.

I got him at #13, which I thought was a steal.

Despite all the smoke, I seriously doubt our rivals directly behind us are going to pass on the stud WR that is likely staring them in the face for a corner.

Each of them that is.

WE would be in play for a WR at 10....thats the real value there....only reason we aren't is because of Lamb.

Back on track...I think trading down and still coming away with one of the corners is realistic....and theres definitely no need to go up to take one.

Both being gone at 10 is a serious longshot, especially given the depth at the position in this draft.

Way too many picks my friend. Trade up. I don’t need more than 8 players

AND Cooper AND Gallup. We aren’t in play because we’re already overloaded and over invested in the position.

Over the last few years, great receivers are becoming much easier to find. Certainly when compared to other positions.

I agree. There’s no way I’d move up for either corner.
