I know this series has been out for a little bit now but I just picked it up a few months ago and I'm still blown away at how great it is. As an avid reader of the bible, this series actually breaks down some of the more popular parts of the bible and I actually learned a few things I didn't know watching the series. If you haven't checked it out yet, I would strongly suggest you do so. The whole series is about 8 hrs long I thing and it comes in a few different discs.

Only tv Jesus movie I have on dvd is Jesus of Nazareth 1977 with Robert Powell. Can't see any other actor showing the depth and emotion he portrayed. So that in itself is why I can't watch any new version.

Isn't that pretty narrow minded?

I enjoyed it.
As long as you view it with broader sense and don't get caught up arguing the precise details, it's well done.
IMO

I was just happy they made effort. Hollywood avoids in New Testament stuff like the plague, for reasons that I won't go in to.

Eh, I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes and was very unimpressed.

Absolutely great performance by Powell. In fact many great performances.

I think the Virgin Mary could've used a little less botox.

Actually, I came into this thread, specifically to see what was being discussed. Seems like the only topic of discussion is the film and not the actual content or the Bible itself. So long as it stays on it's current path, I think it will be fine.

I haven't seen the entire series you're talking about. Must be very good. I'll try to watch if I ever get the chance.

You didn't like Passion of the Christ?
