The Cowboys should have been in on this deal. A DE rotation of D Law, Clowney, Quinn and maybe Gregory would have been amazing. On third down they could have used Clowney as a 3 technique DT. I would have offered a 2nd round pick in the 2020 draft. After the Cowboys win the Super Bowl it would have been the 64th overall pick. After Clowney leaves as a free agent the Cowboys would have received a compensatory 3rd round pick in the 2021 draft.

Couldn't have paid him past this year. And I'm sure he's looking for a long term deal

I am not sure how you fit the 8 million under our cap. And also you give up a second round pick for a one year rental.

Oh he wants Tank Money or more , seatle promises to NOT tag him, I hope he got that in writing but JC is nice PR but hes not worth that kind of money...hes a 8-9 sack guy , we cant pay Tank and JC thats too much money invested in one position..its why we draft well, to fill in between the high paid stars...

So what? A 3rd round pick for clowney on a one year rental is a great deal. Now, Seattle can basically audition him for a whole season without having to commit long term dollars. Very rare opportunity with little downside.

This is the kind of opportunity we refuse to cash in. We have depth on the OL. The Texans needed help and don't have a GM. I bet we could have cashed in La'El for a first round pick.

I'm sure they have something in place with him regarding an extension. That's the only reason he would play this year.

Truly it would be. But I doubt Dallas could pay him beyond this season. And lets face is, we really don't need him. With DLaw on one side, Quinn, Gregory, and now that Taco may be coming around, the Cowboys are set.

In a 3-4 as an OLB.

Highly likely that Clowney will fare better as a 4-3 DE in SEA.

No, not really. They already have a damn good defensive line plus depth. They also need to keep the team together. There’s a reason why Clowney is gone from the Texans. Just like there’s a reason why The Steelers got rid of their 2 clowns.

Kudos to the Seahawks for taking advantage of the situation and getting a premier pass rusher for cheap.

They saw the dysfunction that's going on with the Texans, realized the opportunity, and capitalized. I wish the Cowboys had gotten in on it too, but our own numbers at defensive end likely made it too tough.
