The Cowboys longest run is 12 yards and it was by CeeDee Lamb

I wrote in the forum this offseason that we have absolutely zero outside run threat because neither Rico nor Zeke run faster than a 4.8. There were naysayers this summer, but it's looking pretty true now.
Who were the naysayers? LOL running backs by committee don't work. This was rather obvious. Same with the defensive linemen.

Rico needs to get the bulk of the work, it seems to be trending that way.

But our playcalling is pretty obvious and lacks creativity. Our Wrs are generally slow. They are also very tiny. So we probably have the smallest, slowest WR corp in the league. No wonder why we can't run or throw at the moment.

That’s just crazy what a baby team we are
RB with the highest YPC - Luepke at 4.0

Dowdle is a backup to PS player. And he's our starter.

We've got *no* talent at RB. I think most of us saw it in the offseason. It was so bad and so obvious I spent the offseason trying to explain why they were deliberately tanking at RB.

There is a mistaken belief that if a RB averages 5 yards per carry, that they get about 5 yards every carry.

That simply isn't the case. Its a one sided distribution with the vast majority of carries being less than that and a few big runs coming in and increasing the average. Those big runs are really what opponents fear. Nothing worse than giving up a 40 yard TD on a simple draw play. It forces teams to adjust their defense.

This is why speed matters. In the NFL, gaps open and close in tenths of a second. Just being a little bit faster allows an RB to get to the second level and turn a 4 yard run into a 40 yard run. Dallas simply doesn't have those guys. There is a reason "short yardage back" isn't a high demand position in the NFL. As a result, defenses just sit back in coverage and the WR's can't get open and Dak has to hit tight windows all game long.

The lack of a running game threat is the biggest drag on our passing game. Watch the safeties. They have zero fear or respect for any of our backs to hit a long run so the safeties just play super deep, taking away most of the immediate and deep passing routes.

Defenses are literally giving us the check downs because there is zero running back threat. Other than Lamb (who is almost always doubled off) there are no WRs who can get separation so the passing windows are extremely tight.

Everyone who thinks a running game is no longer needed in the NFL, watch the Cowboys offense. No RBs that threaten a defense means play action is diminished and the passing game is much more difficult to find good options. Good luck to any QB handed this offense and its scheme. And it was as predictable as a sunrise to everyone except our FO.

I was told the OL with two rookies would solve the running game alone and that the cowboys didn’t need any talent at RB.

We haven't that many opportunities to run the ball either. The defense giving up as many points as it has and losing the TOS battle by 5-10 minutes per game is going to hurt the rushing game stats.
