I think it made a hair under my arm pit twitch.
I worked at a grocery store when I was in high school and that damn song played once an hour on a music loop. Bye bye miss American pie overload. I still can't listen to it.

That is a great song, thanks for posting that.

There are a lot discussions out there about what that song really means...and this video was a good one.

Waylon Jennings "lost" the coin flip and had to ride the bus. As he said goodbye to the three who would ride on the plane, he jokingly said, "I hope your plane crashes." He regretted saying that so much.

The movie "The Buddy Holly Story" starring Gary Busey is one of my favorites.

It is a shame Buddy Holly died so young. We lost out on a lot of music. Everyone says he was a great guy too.

It is interesting how many famous people have died in small plane accidents. Knute Rockne, Buddy Holly, didn't Rocky Marciano die in one?

Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and vocalist Cassie Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd died in a plane crash in October of 1977.

Stevie Ray Vaughan I think also perished in a plane wreck.

I know he wasn't a musician, but Thurman Munson died flying his own plane too. And that was a big deal where I come from. I was like 14 years old and a Yankee fan, like everyone else I knew. When he died, it was like the world stood still in my home town.

Jim Croce, Roberto Clemente, The Marshall University football team, Paul Wellstone (MN Senator), Aaliyah, Payne Stewart, JFK Jr., John Denver, Davey Allison, Allen Kulwicki, Reba McEntire's band, Ricky Nelson, Vic Morrow (helicopter crashed into him), Audie Murphy, Rocky Marciano, Otis Redding, Patsy Cline, Glenn Miller, Will Rogers, Knute Rockne...................

Some of the most famous who have died in an aviation related event.

I was like 10 or 11 when "Miss American Pie" came out. And yeah, it got WAY over exposed on the radio. However, over time, I grew to like the song more and more as I got older. Don McClean himself was a flash in the pan, "one hit wonder". But this song has to be on everybody's top 10 of all time list.

Thanks for the link....................
