So you've passed on peacefully and are headed on to whatever afterlife you might believe it. When I enter I want a band playing man, and I want it to be Rock-n-Roll! So here's the deal, you can pick a 4 member house band that consists of a lead singer, guitarist, bass player, and drummer. What they must all be is rock and rollers and very dead. Who you got?

Lead Vocals - Elvis Presley
Lead guitarist - Jim Hendrix
Bass Player - Cliff Burton
Drummer - John Henry Bonham

Man I can't imagine listening to some of the bands listed playing together. You know there's depth at the position when Morrison, Lennon, and Joplin still haven't been mentioned.
"Rock And Roll Heaven"
(originally by Climax)

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock n' roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band Jimmy

Gave us rainbows and Janis
Took a piece of our hearts and Otis

Brought us all to the dock of a bay
Sing a song to light my fire, remember Jim
That way, they've all found another place, another place to play

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock n' roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band Jimmy

Remember bad bad Leroy Brown, hey Jimmy
Touched us with that song
Time won't change a friend we came to know and Bobby

Gave us Mack the Knife
Well look out, he's back in town
They'll all be there together
When they meet in one big show

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock n' roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

There's a spotlight waiting
No matter who you are 'cuz everybody's got a song to sing
Everyone's a star
(Everybody's got to be a star)

If you believe in forever,
Then life is just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band.

Vocals: Jon Anderson, might as well go for the most angelic voice ever in rock
Guitar: Jeff Beck, the most underrated and under appreciated guitar player in rock history
Bass: Michael Anthony, need him for harmony
Drums: Neal Peart, love Bonham but I need more of a Rush feel with this band because of the vocalist.

Beck underrated?
Anyone who plays knows that Beck is a monster player, its almost unfair how good he is. He is also a good mechanic, so I hear.

And having MA for harmonies isn't a bad idea, as a bass player though he is quite average. Edward says he had to write his live bass solo for him and show him how to play it.

By underrated, I mean by non musicians when listing the best guitar players. Even Page said it was unfair that too many can only remember he and Clapton when talking about The Yardbirds. He doesn't get his due when people talk about the greats.

Now this lineup would have been very interesting to hear.
I put Waylon with Buddy since he was his bassist on all the songs he wrote.

Buddy Holly leads my list of "where might they have taken it" of creative musicians as he was the driving force at that time in music to me. He just kept coming with one great song after another and he was the master writer of songs easy to learn to sing along to after only a couple of listens. Elvis was huge but he wasn't like Buddy, his songs have withstood the test of time and if I hear one now, that takes me back to being a teenage boy who couldn't wait to grow up and didn't realize how special that time was.

Johnny, I get Buddy and all that great music with soul, Motown and British Invasion to closely follow. I got to be a teenager during the greatest period of music in the history of this country. Yeah, Boomers screwed up a lot but we got that right.

Ya, he was easily the best player in the Yardbirds. His playing looks so effortless.
