I'll admit it...I drank the Kool-Aid after the Tampa game. I'm 47, so I know I should know better. But I thought we had a better-than-average chance of beating the 49ers. Can you believe that? I actually thought we were going to go to a Championship football game. I started to believe that I actually WOULD see us in another Super Bowl before I die. It was a pretty confident week, and just like that, we are all put right back in our places, watching other boring teams go back to the Championship game, back to the Super Bowl, whatever. It just can't be us, can it? It can't ever be us.
And it won't be us when I'm 48, either. Because we are all gonna talk about who we need to bring in, blah, blah, blah...when we all know that we did more than good enough for Jerry to bring everyone back. During the 3rd quarter is when it started to dawn on me that we just aren't destined to win. Jerry sees to that year after year after year. It's actually amazing we even got to where we were. Watching Dak crumble against a good team should shock nobody. Watching a rookie QB outplay Dak should shock nobody. Nor should watching our baffled coaches, injured players, missed kicks, a constipated Jerry, on and on and on forever. But don't worry! I'm sure we will assemble a Super Bowl team in the draft.
I'm so sick of never winning, and I know we won't see any changes around here. And finally, the playoffs just got a lot more boring for the NFL.
