…we out scored the Eagles 40-24. They got the gifted TD and the early FG, but we dominated for all but the first 5 minutes of the game. That’s the reality of what happened today, Maybe it would’ve been a different story if Hurts had played, but Minshew played well.

Also, that was with Dak getting sacked 6 times. The Eagles have a very good defense. We had a much, much better offense today.

And for everyone hating on our defense, we crushed the Eagles in the turnover battle. Not sure how anyone looks at today in any other way than a great win against a very good team.

Defense stepped up with the turnovers. 3 were created from great defensive plays. One was on the QB / RB exchange. But Dak gifted them that 7 points as posted.
Otherwise defense was still a sieve, but it was against one of the best offenses as well.

Dak played a great game and his confidence never wavered. We were down 10, twice and he led the team back to tie the game, twice.
Defense finally got some pressure on that last drive, but they still allowed them to move down field to easily.

I am not sure if Hurts would have made a difference or not. Probably in the run game, but they still needed to score, as his running would help move down field, Minshew did it with passing. Most likely they still would have settled for the FG's they did get.

I don't think there's any question but what Hurts will provide a better account of himself than what Minshew did Saturday evening. He's more secure in both running and passing than anything Minshew had to offer. Our next meeting with Philly will be a greater challenge, without a doubt. Here's hoping we're well prepared for the difference the next time we meet. Let's hope a return to form of our walking wounded will provide a far better defensive effort.

Detroit Lions will sneak into the playoffs. They will upset either Minnesota or SF, then will upset the Eagles. Eagles are lucky to have won that 1st game. The Eagles been pretty much the same the entire year. Lions have improved.
We will beat either Minnesota or SF after we discard the NFCS winner.
So we will be hosting Detroit in the NFCCG. :D

I’m not that sure Hurtz would’ve done much better. I mean the eagles never punted and put up 34 points. That’s on the high end of what they usually score. Hurtz obviously would’ve added another dimension running but even the INTs weren’t bad throws, just great defensive plays.
Never thought Hurtz was that good and I think Minshews performance with the same offense further proves that it’s more the team around him than Hurtz himself.

There is a glaring hole in the middle of the D-line. There is no disruption or pocket collapse from within: On passing plays, it looks like the line has rubber leashes attached to them and the opposing QB knows how far they can stretch.

You can fall from a height of 2,000 ft. The first one thousand, nine hundred ninety nine are harmless. It's that last foot that's going to getcha. AKA it's not how you start it's how you finish that matters.

I lack the crystal ball that you appear to have handy. I'll hope for the best version of the Cowboys and their defense to show up in the NFCCG and beyond, if we're fortunate enough to reach that point. It will require a better defensive effort, in that eventuality. I still see the Eagles as our toughest opponent yet to come.

I found my crystal ball at some garage sale, I got it for a bargain, as it does have a small crack in it. :muttley:

Minshew played a great game, though there was the one throw he made that we should’ve int, but our guy straight up dropped it.

Backups frequently come in and ball out for a day, they just can’t do it for a season. We’ll never know, but I’m not at all convinced Hurts would’ve thrown the ball better than Minshew yesterday. No doubt he’d have been more mobile, but who knows. Great QBs have bad days and backups play like pro bowlers periodically.

A MAJOR problem we have is receiver separation. Our wideouts and TEs are close to the bottom of the list league wide, forcing Dak to throw into tighter windows, which reduces his margin for error, which leads to more ints, etc. Dak threw the ball very well yesterday.

We have a very good team. I know many here are SB or bust fans, but as we’ve seen through the years, great teams often don’t get there and lesser teams get good bounces/breaks at the right time. If a team can make their conference championship game, they’ve had an exceedingly good season imo. At that point, anything can happen.

I HATE that we’ll have to play the Eagles in the divisional round if we win our first playoff game, essentially playing the best team in the league with them coming off two week’s rest. That’s a tough ask for any team, but it is what it is. If we lose that game, there will be a legion of fans who will hit the gloom and doom button, but it will probably take our very best effort and execution to win that game, something that’s hard to dial up on command.

Go Cowboys!!!

Dallas could have the worst WR Corp of any playoff team this year….

I don’t disagree. Lamb has certainly come alive, and he’s been great out of the slot. Our TEs aren’t terrible, but there are no Kelce’s or Kittle’s on the squad. Hilton made a GREAT catch yesterday, but can he be a real threat? I don’t think so, but idk for sure. He’s certainly well rested….lol. Brown shows signs, but again, no separation. The pick 6 in the Jags game was on him, but it happens.

No choice but to roll with what we have. We can beat anyone, but like every other team, we can get beaten. Here’s hoping for a little playoff magic!

i thought Dak did a much better job with accuracy and leading his receivers, something he’s struggled with during season. I also believe that the Eagles system makes mediocre quarterbacks play like rockstars. Of course, Minshew has only been in a couple of games, but he does look like a baller.

i don’t know, man. Even backup QBs can ball out against man coverage, but Dak carved up their zone coverage better than any QB has played against zone in any game league-wide this year. It was a pretty incredible stat.

If Detroit gets in they are going to be a dangerous matchup for whoever they play.

This defense did a very good job containing Hurts in the first meeting this year. But this Cowboys defense isn't the unit it was in October anymore. This is why I think resting Parsons, D-Law, and some others until the playoffs makes sense. Let them get their legs back under them.

The Lions offense is scary. But their defense is scary for them. Gave up 320 rushing yards to Carolina yesterday; over 200 in the first half. Don't think I've ever seen that outside of a college game.

There's a tweet, showing it was better than anyone since 2018.

Crazy part is they have had the best rushing defense over the course of the last 6 weeks. They had been clamping down before Carolina blew the doors wide open.
