Here this past week you have a top 5 CB being traded for minimal return, top 15 CB being traded for minimal return and now a top 10 CB being just flat out released.
I know their cap figures had much to do about it - but what does this show us as far as Diggs contract coming up.
Are teams changing their tune on huge deals for CBs?

Guessing with the deals WRs are now getting - the leagues push towards high scoring is effecting the money the secondary use to get.

Diggs deal - what's your best guess on what it looks like or do they try and trade him first?

I think they wait for this season to play out. They need to look at Lamb's potential contract, and it is not too early to think about Parsons as well.
Diggs is 3rd in line to be concerned with IMO.

Of course the have the 5th year options on Lamb and Parsons to use which I believe they will.

They will not trade him because they traded a 5th for a CB on the wrong side of 30 years old. As for a possible contract, they can easily franchise tag him next season (the franchise tag is $18.1M in 2023) or apply the non-exclusive tag to allow Diggs to test the market aka what Baltimore is doing with QB Jackson. Looking on spotrac they have Diggs' current market value at around $15.4M which would translate into a deal similar to something like 4 years/$61.8M....for reference here are a few CB signings this season: Jamel Dean 4 years/$52M, James Bradberry 3 years/$38M.

Jackson is a unique situation. He killed the market for him, himself. Insisting on a fully guaranteed deal, turning down a huge and very fair contract, not seeking to want to play when the team felt he could. Owners don’t want guaranteed contracts because that will cause a competitive disadvantage to many teams. Not many teams have a quarter billion in cash sitting around

Agreed and in no way am I comparing Diggs to Jackson's situation per se but rather that Dallas could apply the non-exclusive tag to lower the price to bring Diggs back when compared to the franchise tag; I doubt any team is willing to part with multiple 1st round picks for Diggs so it puts Dallas in a good situation either way (get the picks if a team signs him or get him at the lower non-exclusive tag).
While I think Diggs is a good CB for Dallas, the multiple firsts are more valuable especially when considering Lamb and Parsons are on the horizon in terms of contracts.

I like the non exclusive tag idea on most guys. Most guys you could easily replace with a first. Other than a QB I don’t think many guys would get offers at all. Two first round picks AND a big contract for a guy is a huge price. There are maybe a handful of non QB’s in the nfl you’d have to worry about getting taken
