Don’t blame Dak, he didn’t resign himself.
Don’t blame the running game, they were never gonna be good
Don’t blame coaching, they are just trying to find jobs
The next 5 years of mediocrity we are all about to experience is on the Jones family, just like the last 30.
A good GM knows a window is closing, due to budget issues or aging players (Martin, DLaw, etc) instead of doubling down during a rebuild period (Dak, Zeke, etc).
A good GM leverages trades on aging talent for picks, leverages FA to get long term cheap depth for a rebuild, and does not over invest in unproven players
A good GM doesn’t reach for needs in the draft with a closed window, but goes for maximum value.
Watching Dak play this poorly reinforced every point most of us made this offseason. He’s not good enough to do this by himself, and by paying him you can’t afford help, so now you’re stuck. Welcome to Jones purgatory. Enjoy your stay for the next 5 years. I’m deeply sorry to those fans who are getting up there in years waiting for one more SB. You’re gonna be waiting a while longer.
