Holy crap, can people just be happy for the guy without complaining about what it didn't do for them personally?
Congratulations, Coach, well deserved!!
I think CD won this award for his guy.
Congratulations to CD!!!!
Lamb - for his 135 rec for close to 1800 yds production - averaged 13.0 yards per catch - resulted in 80 first downs.
Cooks - 54 rec / 657 yds, 38 1st downs___ 12.2 yp catch
Gallup - 34 rec / 418 yds, 19 1st downs___ 12.3 yp catch
Tolbert- 22 rec / 268 yds, 13 1st downs___ 12.2 yp catch
What the stats reveal that while Lamb's numbers across the board are more than the next three WRs combined - they contributed at a rate similar to WR1.
• Yards per catch - all three at 12+...less than a yard lower than Lamb.
• Receptions percentage resulting in first downs__
Lamb 59%, Cooks 70%, Gallup 56%, Tolbert 59%.
Now many could counter it's the OC's play calling that is the main factor in the WRs success with their limited opportunities...but it appears the WR coach helped make them prepared when called upon.
And - if one includes the miniscule stats of Turpin and Brooks (12 for 127 and 6 for 64 respectively) the "success % (I assume is one of those newfound analytics measuring sticks)...all six Cowboys WRs rated 51% and above.
This, in addition to some other statistics-- cumulated in WR Coach Robert Prince being selected for the award.
Darryl Drake__former NFL and CFL wide receiver, and a college + NFL coach (WR, DB, QB, one season each as OC - Baylor, Asst HC Texas).
Passed away in 2019.
