The NFL comes down to the coach/QB combo

There will always be the occasional exception like a Trent Dilfer here and there, but he was backed up by a transcendent defense.

For the most part, the NFL really comes down to who has the strongest duo of QB/Coach. Once those things are found, it immediately translates to success. I know it’s not exactly a shock, but look at the teams in the last 5 or 6 years that have started to come on strong and those that have fallen off. It all circles back to have they found or lost their QB/coach.

Prescott is not the answer at the position. He has the worst possible trait of disappearing in big games. I think McCarthy also has to go after a game like that. Cancer like that loss runs deep, and sometimes you have to cut into seemingly healthy tissue to remove it.

I don’t think the needed changes will be made because of that ever present overlord of Jerry Jones. Not because he is an egotistical meddler. I actually think he has been better with that in recent years and mostly has the reputation due to old behavior.

But Jerry Jones is an old man. He knows he doesn’t have enough sand in the hourglass to go through a proper rebuild and see the results. My guess is he will try to hire a big name coach to win with the pieces (that aren’t working) that are already in place.

The team is stuck in the worst situation possible — never winning anything meaningful, but also winning enough that they don’t get a shot at any franchise changing draft picks.

It’s purgatory. Stuck with Prescott at QB and likely to get an old school, dated, defensive minded retread of a coach.

Quite.

Some posters on here clearly fail to understand the basics...your quarterback shouldn't be gifting the opposition two touchdowns as a heavy favourite at home. Prescott is not the type of QB that can comeback and win games so he needed to not at least take care of the ball to give the team a chance and not kneecap his teammates especially as this supposed great leader

There will surely be fractions in the dressing room going forwards as the blame game shifts around.

Honestly? We can say this about anyone. Oh you can’t win with a GM who is owner, or you can’t win with this or that.

Ultimately, I think we could have Bellicheat and Tom Brady or Andy Reid and Mahomes and I think we’d suffer the same faint.

I root for this team because I hope we win in spite of it but Jerry is the issue. Always has been and always will be. Sure Dak may not be the answer. Mike may not be that guy. But Jerry for sure isn’t. This culture is broken.

Everyone kept saying the curse of Jimmy….no….Jimmy was a good guy and a great coach. He’s not the curse. The curse that needs to be lifted is Jerry.
